The saga continues in the Bronx this week. The Sox send out Beckett, Wakefield and Schilling. The Yankees counter with Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina and Shawn Chacon.
The New York Post ran a back cover story questioning why anyone has not dared to throw at David Ortiz.. (maybe because he is 6' 4" and weighs 250 lbs) Sox offseason pickup Josh Beckett returns to Yankee Stadium for the first time since Game 6 of the 2003 World Series.
Series returns to NY after an abbreviated series last week in Boston where Boston fans expressed their true feelings about Johnny Damon.
Wow, check out that pic of Beckett slinking back to the dugout last night...
Better commit that image to memory, Josh...
DARN, that's the ballgame. I was kind of hopeful tonight, too. Oh well... onto Game 3.
The Sox offense has been pathetic of late.
Ortiz-In the last ten games is batting .158 (6/31 with 12 walks) with 3 extra base hits
Tek-1 extra base hit in his last ten games (3R HR in Toronto) and only 3 RBIs outside of that
Loretta-3 extra base hits in his last ten games
Manny-Batting .250 in the last ten games. Has 5 homers and 11 RBIs though.
Youk-4 extra base hits and 3 RBI in the last 10 games
Excellent summary, as always. What do you think of Coco Crisp so far? Doesn't seem like he's done much lately, but I could be wrong (I missed the Red Sox games this weekend).
He sees a lot of pitches but his stroke is off. Give him about 2 more weeks to see where he is.
Are you watching? Bases loaded, no outs... c'mon Red Sox, don't squander this...
It was 4-3 Sox, last I heard. We need a win.
Crisp knocks in two.
NICE game tonight. Can't believe the Yanks and Sox don't see each other again until mid-August. Onto a busy weekend at home for our Sox...
I saw tonight's game but couldn't post. The 3 HR's off Schilling continue a bad trend by Red Sox pitchers although they are hitting a lot more on the road.
Good night for Tek although the based loaded DP was a killer. Trot Nixon is no longer a #5 hitter in my book. Too much effort expended on drawing walks and that damn uppercut swing is a killer. His slugging % is declining.
Papelbon made Juice Boy and Gay-Rod look bad tonight, didn't he?
Wasn't that a beautiful sight to behold? I think that was actually my favorite part of tonight's game! :o)
I was also disappointed in Trot's continuing uppercut swing. We were cursing Loretta's swinging of the bat, when the bases were loaded (or nearly loaded) with 2 outs. I can't remember the inning now, but he should've known better. Just get a hit and move your guys along the bases, Mark...
Looks like they will go with Jon Lester on Saturday despite the rain out. Evidently Clements shoulder is stiff.
All right, thanks to Schilling, 'Tek and (chuckle) A-Rod, I can get off the ledge.
