I totally agree with you. I think they should be able to use all of the musical ability they've got, especially at this stage of the competition. But we all know there are some whiners out there.

The thing that confuses me is that it was must-see TV when CI did it. Ratings through the roof. You'd think AI would be all over that.

Impressions of each contestant
- “Tay Tay” is his dawg, great guy, true talent. Someone who has soul, passion and heart and love for music.
Do you think Taylor will be the winner?
- Both are already winners

See how generic his comment is about who will win? Even after all the great things he said about Taylor previously. I think they are coached to not show favorites when they leave.

This also reinforces for me just how remarkable Elliott's talent is -- that he can sing so well despite the handicap of being deaf in one ear.

Maybe it helps him. I know the singers in the bands that I used to follow, would sometimes plug one ear at times with a finger when they were singing, so they could hear themselves better.

Please don't misunerstand, misterrob. I thoroughly appreciate your offer. I'd just rather help a kid if possible. If you do get an autographed photo and send it to me, I would probably find a child to give it to. :)

why not get it, and then put it up on ebay and aution it off or sell it to the highest bidder (at a minimum that you choose) and send the proceeds on to a charity that Elliot likes. Maybe Juvenile diabetes?

If Katherine can flash her boobies, why can't Taylor flash his harmonica skills?

That's a real good point! She's using an advantage that he can't compete with. What's good for the goose, and all that! :-D

I think they want people to vote for them based on their singing, which is odd considering the inconsistencies of some, but maybe they want the voters to hear that, too.

Anyway, maybe they just want the singing so that the show doesn't become a 'talent' show opposed to a 'singing' show. They have a talent show either coming soon or maybe it already started, where you can sing and play an instrument and juggle if you want.

Chris and Taylor are very different, but I think it would be cool to have them sing together. They've both shown versatility, and passion for music. I bet they could find some really unique common ground for a duet, and they should play their GEETARS! That would be a hoot!

Between the two of them they could probably write their own and make it fun. Like a fun battle between them. Chris rocking it and then pausing while Taylor takes over and does the next section in blues, and then Chris taking over again, each time kind of upping the antee a little. Maybe like Chris says he'll show how you win a woman's heart with rock, then he does his thing and then Taylor says no dude, you win her heart with blues and he does his thing and they go back and forth. Could be fun. :)

I hope that he is willing to leave his home behind and move on.

That's hard for all involved, but it's tough love and needs to be done. He can't let these opportunities pass by. He has to take advantage now.

Wow, that kind of floored me that there would even be any question! Though of course it makes sense, since Elliott is obviously very attached to his family ... which is part of why we all like him here ... but I hope he realizes that this is his time to shine in the spotlight -- which is probably not in Richmond! Hopefully he will realize that airplanes are made for this situation -- he can always come home and visit, or fly mom & other relatives out to visit him. And maybe that "special young lady" you've alluded to will be able to accompany him wherever he does go. :)

BTW, I'm going to take you up on your offer to forward a message to Elliott! Thanks for offering. Very kind of you. :)

Good news!! Did you just save a bunch of money on your car insurance by switching to GEICO?

Hilarious! As to the offer of passing a note on to him... just tell him that he is good soul, has fantastic talent, has gained the respect of so many, and will make loads of money when his record comes out.

When I said she is "big-bodied" I went on to defend her as NOT being fat. There are just some body types that aren't ment to be Barbie dolls.

OK WE'VE DISCUSSED YESTERDAY's SHOW LONG ENOUGH.

LET's LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT TUESDAY. I’d like to hear some discussion of song choices ( as if they have any choice at all ).

In the past, this has USUALLY been the theme for the FINALS :

* One new song by the contestant ( usually written for them by Dianne Warren. Carrie sang ANGELS BROUGHT ME HERE , Bo sang something like the LONG ROAD HOME )

* The cheesy winner’s single by both ( again written for them by Diane Warren. Both Bo and Carrie recorded this eventually — INSIDE YOUR HEAVEN ).

* One song previously done this season/will also be on single ( Bo sang VEHICLE, Carrie sang INDEPENDENCE DAY ).

This is the night that worries me as a Taylor fan inspite of some Soul Patrolers saying Taylor can sing the phone book and it will sound great.

This is also the dreaded night which has been debated from the very beginning ( regarding whether or not it would be best for Taylor to reach the finals) because IT HAS ARRIVED.

Yes, the FINGERNAILS-ON-THE-CHALKBOARD MOMENT is upon us when Taylor has to sing a beauty pageant song !!

Question --- why does it have to be a song they have done previously on the show ? Why can't it be something NOT done previously ?

Why Does Taylor not get to sing GEORGIA ?

Frankly I would like to hear Taylor do a Neil Diamond tune. I'm guessing though that, they must not have clearance for him since I can't recall anyone doing one of his songs.

That Georgia song was just ok to me.

A ton of people thought Bo was going to win last year prior to the finale as he knocked it out of the park with "In A Dream". Then he had to sing the two beauty pageant songs and Simon said it wasn't good enough and said to Carrie, "You just won" and that was it. That is EXACTLY my fear for this week.

Couple that with the mathematical impossibility of truly measuring support (i.e. counting all votes cast) due to artificially restricted bandwidth creating a ceiling of votes for each contestant that is well below the demand thereby guaranteeing a 50/50 split of landline votes and I can pretty much guarantee a Kat "win". Just watch.....

Welcome my son, welcome to the Machine

In theory, it would be possible to set up a bank of computers to dial the one or two phone numbers for a single contestant thousands of times in a relatively short time frame

Some questions:

Could there be a technology where only one vote was counted from each phone or computer? (even if it took some time to eliminate duplicates)

Could someone tap into a phone line for a contestant and for a short time "stuff the ballot box" for a few minutes?

Is an exact count statistically accurate enough to have declared an absolute winner and loser last night?

I also didn't like that scream of "incredible" from the audience just as Paula was beginning to critique Katherine's blues singing. If that was from her family/support group there, wouldn't that have invalidated the voting?

It's hard to believe it was that close. It's hard to believe AI didn't feel a need to peruse the results, within any margin of error, when it came out that way.

Big difference though. Carrie's a better singer and more consistent than Kat, and so is Taylor. :)

While true, it is irrelevant if the AI suits "want" Kat. She can have as many takes as they need in the studio.
