I feel the same way about Chris. I love that he is a family man. I really wanted him to win! I pray that he stays true to his family and himself.
Now we are voting for Kat. I know a lot of people don't like her, but in my house we think she's great!
Chris who?
Chris just seems like such an all-around decent guy. And if he is a Christian? Well, then I adore him even more. If he does any Christian music, I am all over it! That is my music of choice.
Kat would make the next, best Revlon girl but her singing is nails on a chalkboard to me.
We're having a baby.
I think he wrote up the service invoice for my car.
liar...
it's mine.
I could say some really crude things to both your comments. But I think I will refrain from lower myself to SG's insult standards.
lower - lowering
Shucks... I am tired!
RIPOFF?
Get a grip on yourself. It's a cover. Nobody's ripping off anyone.
Time for the West Coast Wrapup! Just a few brief notes since they all did at least okay ....
Elliott: I don't know if it was the long trip home, the horrible hours they are probably keeping, allergies, or what, but Elliott's voice lacked the clear, bright, ringing tone that has distinguished his best performances on AI. Also, he was weighed down with two songs that didn't do much for him, and a third song that probably two-thirds of the audience has never heard before (his own fault there, though). This was not his best work tonight, and I fear it may be his swan song. But in any case, although I was not impressed with his work tonight, I *am* impressed with young Yamin in general -- his God-given talent, his obvious commitment to excellence, and his genuinely nice personality. Hope he has a long and profitable career ahead of him. :)
Kat: She might believe she can fly, but she failed to convince me of it. First song's tone was unfocused and yes, screechy. (She did look stunning in that dress, though. Why has she been hiding her waist all this time? She has a perfectly serviceable waist.) SOTR -- I half-expected a repeat of Simon's earlier comment about apple pie and what he wants on it. She had GALLONS of figurative cream all over that apple pie. Ick. But Simon chose to overlook that and anoint her as the Queen. I used to like Simon for his incisive reviews, but I am rapidly losing respect for him, since his variances from obvious truth always seem to be in pursuit of the almighty Dollar. Nothing But the Blues -- Kat looked like she was auditioning for the remake of Pretty Woman, but I actually liked this song quite a lot (aside from a couple of out-of-control high notes toward the end). She IS cabaret. She IS musical theater. It's sad that we have moved away from musical theater so that those who have obvious talent in that line can't make a living at it.
(Side note on Kat's range: Many have commented on her squealy/squeaky/out-of-control high notes. Her problem is that she has what is known as a "break" between her midrange voice and her head voice. Women generally have three "voices": the chest voice, which is the lowest register, and which vibrates principally in the chest; the midvoice, which resonates in both the chest and the head; and head voice, which has the highest part of the range, and resonates mostly in the head. Because these "voices" are produced in different parts of the anatomy, they often have distinctively different sounds. A *good* singer who is dedicated to her craft will work hard to link up the various voices so that all three are as even and equal as possible. That said, women tend to be naturally gifted in one range or another, but not all three. Coloratura sopranos, for instance, usually have very good head voices and midvoices, but their chest voice is nothing to write home about. Kat has a killer midvoice, and an okay chest voice [which gets progressively weaker as the note gets lower], but her head voice is weak and undeveloped. This causes a "break" between her midvoice and head voice, which is audible to everyone. Hence the squeaky/squealy high notes.)
Taylor: I expected more from Dancing in the Dark -- it was fun but nothing more than that. YASB -- I've never been overly fond of that song, but felt that Taylor did an okay job on it. His last song was his tour de force and may indeed be his ticket to the Big Time.
I wanted to support Elliott, but really, I felt that Taylor gave better performances. Ended up splitting my votes between the two of them.
I'm really going to miss hanging out on this thread!! Thank you, Jonny, for keeping it going. I've had the best time ever this year. :) (And even better now that I can say "poopy-head!" Woohoo! LOL!)
Did you notice that she got out of synch with the band? That was why she had to rip that earpiece out -- she knew she had to forge ahead on her own time and let *them* catch up with *her*, and the sound in her ear was driving her bonkers. I actually thought it was a very good recovery.
I am sure Elliott was completely worn out. An insulin pump is not a cure, and someone with diabetes does need to rest more for the same energy as someone without it.
Pancreas matter.
The number of things that alter blood sugar cannot even be listed here, but stress and fatigue are way up there on the list, followed closely by plane trips, time changes, and emotional moments. It's a crapshoot every day, *with* good rest and low stress. Hormones are not limited to teen agers.
Elliott has done wonderfully and I will be first in line to buy anything he records. I think what he did with some of the arrangements was pure brilliance.
If he manages to stay on the show tomorrow, great, but if not, that's ok too. There is nothing shabby about third place and Elliott worked harder than any of the rest to get this far. None of them had to count carbs every time they ate, or change tubing and stick a needle in themselves every few days. I know just what his stomach looks like.
So kudos to you Elliott! Leave or stay, you have my admiration and respect. I know what you went through to get this far. I know you can sing and my checkbook will be behind you.
Or you can't think of anything clever to write.
Bet that's it.
Although I fear with me, it would be a jiffy lube.
Good call. She did get ahead of the band, and righted the ship like a professional.
Evidently Simon decided not to focus on her technical glitches, because he was in pimp mode the night. And Kat gave him enough to keep him that way.
