I don't think the judges knew ahead of time. Of they did, Paula would have been blubbering all through the show.

WHAT IF Taylor really was surprised and TPTB on Idol were HOPING he would BLOW IT, BIGTIME.

Actually, Taylor did mess up his lyrics Wednesday, but being the professional he is, was able to do a much better job of covering it up than Kat did Teusday night.

No way would Taylor "blow" a performance. He's done too much singing not to know what to do to keep the show going.

Did someone shoot one of the hamsters running the board? S-l-o-w.

I've looked at boards and it looks like Chris' votes are all over the place. Some say they won't vote, others say they will vote for Taylor, others will vote for Elliot and some even will vote for Kat, go figure.

So, who else can rock the way Chris does ?

Uhm, nobody?

I think we'll see a 4 way split:
1) Some will just not vote. Not a large group, but I think there will be some in this category who were just voting for Chris and don't care enough for anyone else.
2) I think a lot of the younger voters go to Kat. More of an image think than a sound thing.
3) Some of Chris' older voters go to Elliot. Pulling for th underdog vote.
4) Most of Chris' older voters go to Taylor.

I see a 4 way split with Kat getting the most help, Taylor getting more help than Elliott, and Elliott not getting enough Chris voters to continue.

I think Elliott's in trouble if Katherine can avoid some of the troubles she's had lately.

BTW, after Elliott goes, I see almost all of his support swinging to Taylor and Taylor winning the whole shooting match.

Yep, it was me that asked about her. She seems to be an exceptional person. :)

Hmm...
I've only ever voted for Elliott, but thought Chris would win.
If E goes, why vote?

If E goes, why vote?

Because some Elliot fans might have a second person they like?

I'm going to guess "Georgia" which is a "love song" as it was written about a woman but the conventional wisdom is that it is about the state. Either way, good choice.

Kelly does live concerts, Kat can't even get two good songs in a row.

As usual, I really like your take on things, Netizen. Just a little clarification here. Katherine hasn't even had to do two songs in a row yet. She gets a huge break between the two songs.

It'll be interesting, come Tuesday, when she does three songs in an hour, with less break time between them. <^..^>

Taylor Fans

Taylor has a band back in Birmingham called the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra and next week he will be featured with his group in concert during the "Idol" show. Filming is tonight at the Galleria in Hoover, a Birmingham suburb, and it would be worth the price of gas to me to drive to the Magic City to hear Hicks moan the blues.

Alabama 'Idol' has long love of stage

BIRMINGHAM -- Brad Hicks fondly recalls the time he and wife Linda settled down for dinner at a small Mexican restaurant in Birmingham years ago and spied a curiously familiar face on stage with the band.

That lanky frame and thick mop of hair, the way the young man jerked around as he coaxed sweet melodies from the mouth harp at his lips -- the mysterious musician could only be their son, Taylor, who was supposed to be at home.

"Linda looked up and said, 'Well, there's Taylor,' " Brad Hicks reminisced recently from the family's home in the Birmingham suburb of Hoover. "When he was 15 or 16 he would sneak into bars and play harmonica."

The only sneaking Taylor Hicks has to do these days is to keep from inciting mayhem among the fans who've voted him to the final three contestants on Fox's "American Idol."

snip

Hicks was born in Birmingham, and his family moved to suburban Hoover a few years later. His parents divorced when he was 8 and his dad and stepmother, Linda, share custody.

snip

The elder Hicks, a dentist, remembers the performances Taylor would put on when he tagged along with him to work as a boy.

"Here's this skinny little kid -- he'd walk around to each person and say, 'You want me to sing for you?' and then he'd just wail on Kenny Rogers," he said laughing. "What adult is going to say 'No' to a 5-year-old kid?"

His artistic talents didn't end at singing -- Brad Hicks says his son could cut a mean rug, from disco moves to mimicking the King of Pop. "He thought he was the white Michael Jackson," the elder Hicks said.

Hicks studied business at Auburn University and was close to getting a degree before music lured him from the classroom to the stage for good.

Check out these mp3's posted on Grey Charles. The band is damn good:

Weather Jam

I am really sorry I missed him at Auburn. Would have been a hell of a lot of fun at band parties....;-)

Having just spent a little bit of time with him I will tell you that he is extremely flattered with all of the attention, he's extremely appreciative of all the support he is getting and is still as modest and "Aw shucks" as can be.....

She's been having the time of her life. I honestly believe that this has rejuvinated her life and will likely keep her health improving.
