Kelly Clarkson, who has done a lot to support our troops (including visiting them and performing in Iraq), did a promotion on behalf of the Navy's Blue Angels and the Texas Thunder 2006 Air Show. She agreed to fly on a Blue Angels FA-18 Blue Hornet at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, TX, May 10, 2006. The air show will be held this weekend.

Kelly got airsick twice during the flight, but was thrilled anyway. Here's some photos (by AP/Fort Worth Star-Telegram,'s Ron T. Ennis).

Kelly in the cockpit before the flight.

She excidedly pumps her fist.

After the flight, a somewhat woozy Kelly holds up the 'V' for victory sign.

Talking with the media afterwards, Kelly told them she got airsick twice. :)

When I hear Kelly's voice in that Sandals commercial I am again awed by her talent.

Some are saying on another froum that the offer to Chris is coming from LIVE.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

I love Ed Kowalczyk. Chris would be good doing their stuff but I love Ed.

FWIW, I found this on Wikipedia:

On season 5 of American Idol, finalist Chris Daughtry was accused of performing Live's rendition of Johnny Cash's "I Walk the Line" and calling it his own. This angered some Live fans, but a week later, Daughtry acknowledged it was not his own rendition, even saying they were one of his favorite bands. In May 2006, Live appeared on The Howard Stern Show and addressed this issue. Ed Kowalczyk gave Daughtry a personal phone call. "He's since apologized profusely to me," said Ed. "He's actually a great singer and a great guy."

Many were young girls/guys who found him cute/cool and like more current music. They have nowhere to go now if they vote, except maybe the hot babe.

Thus the entire problem with the show.....

That has to be a wish list. Too good to be true otherwise.....

You think they'd let him do one of his own songs?

If we end up with Kat and Elliot in the final I'm not watching. I can't stand either of them. Chris was da man. Taylor has peronality. Elliot looks like a taxi cab going down the street with the doors open. And Kat reminds me too much of my sister-in-law.

I'm not familiar with the last one.

Marc Cohn did it about 15 years ago. Great song. Really a great record but that's the only song that every gets any play.

I don't believe for one minute that Chris's voters were swayed if one of the numbers was given incorrectly, once.

Last season they re-did an entire week because of a wrong number. Precedent and stuff........

You think they'd let him do one of his own songs?

Not likely. Be a risky move, too, since you want to sing known hits.

Weren't there screen captures for that and wasn't it caught a LOT earlier?

UPDATE: Fuel to Give Daughtry the Break of a Lifetime
Band goes to ‘EXTRA’ to make the offer

May 11 4:45PM ET) — The multi-platinum rock band Fuel has offered ‘American Idol’s’ Chris Daughtry a gig with the band.

TMZ has learned that Fuel will make the offer in an exclusive interview on the television show ‘EXTRA’ tonight.

In a stunning turn of events, Daughtry, who was the odds-on favorite to win the ‘Idol’ competition, was booted last night.

Daughtry was on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM radio show in Los Angeles this morning, where the ‘A.I.’ host, who is in on the secret, urged the singer to watch ‘EXTRA’ tonight.

If that is the case then the best thing that could have happened to Chris was to get booted off. Fuel is already very well established in the alt-rick genre. Not a bad way to finish up 4th....

Let's be honest with ourselves and ask the question -- IF CHRIS HAD WON, WHAT KIND OF RECORD WOULD HE HAVE MADE WITH 19 E at the helm ? These folks don't strike me as very savy when it comes to this market niche. They're all about Hillary Duff, Jessica Simpson, pop tart type of singers.

On one hand, they blew it with Kelly by telling her that she couldn't make "Breakaway" on her debut album, because they didn't think that those kind of songs would be big sellers. On the other hand, they can't be that retarded that they don't realize they blew it. Can they? I mean, if they recognize how stupid they were, there was a possibility that they would have let a guy who can rock as well as Kelly on that album make an album very similar to it. Throw in a couple of Because of Yous and Breakaways and Beautiful Disasters and then rock hard the rest of the way with turn-up-your-radio tunes like Since U Been Gone and Walk Away.

Had Chris won, do you think his record would be played by ANY , YES ANY ROCK STATION in the nation ? Heck. I'd bet they wouldn't touch him with a ten foot poll tainted with the 19 E disease.

They would have played Breakaway if it were a 19E album. I'm positive.

Now that Chris is well known, he should use this opportunity to take control of his record and career.

And here is the problem with selling your soul to the AI machine --- The non-winners can't sign a contract until 3 months after the AI tour ends. His fans will have to wait awhile for some music. So, you have to wait till next year to hear Chris' record if he comes out with one.

Chris is a songwriter. A pretty good one. Like Kelly Clarkson is. He can start writing songs right now and put them on his album when he's able to.

One other thing (putting on tinfoil hat) - Fuel is a Sony BMG artist right? Winning American Idol is not something endearing to an alternative rock fan. Not to mention that there is not a single solo artist in the genre. Could this have been "scripted"? Works out very perfectly for everyone involved if you ask me.......

Except that Chris would've been more gracious and less surprised about being axed.

Unless he wasn't in it, and we've got secret meetings of the Illuminati somewhere deciding who goes....

Last night, before I saw the show and while just reacting to what people were saying here, I thought it probably was scripted. But after watching it, I don't know. If it was scripted, they didn't clue Taylor in on it, because he seemed surprised by the request.

WHAT IF Taylor really was surprised and TPTB on Idol were HOPING he would BLOW IT, BIGTIME.
