Another poster just informed me that Kat does have a professional voice coach. Her mother. That's right. We, the viewers, were told that in the early auditions phase of the show. Her mother is a professional vocal coach who has worked with her daughter since Katharine was very young. Like you, I think that explains much of what's wrong with the girl's performances.

I told her to calm down and ask her to compare Priscilla's face with the one she had when she was doing the NAKED GUN movies with Leslie Nielsen. Exactly, but the change is not for the better, imo.
She claimed that if Elvis were alive, he'd be a supportive fan of the show.
He was known to shoot out tv screens, too. I daresay, he would have shot one out after Katharine's first performance and would have had to view their second ones on a different set, where another tv would have become a casualty during her second performance.

The American Idols of the past were the people like Pickler, Bucky and Elliott who came from no where to step into the show and grow. Who was Kelly Clarkson before this? Clay? Fantasia? Carrie? Rueben?
But the problem is, AI hasn't always selected a real "star". So far, by my count, I'm seeing a 50% success rate.
Now we have people on the show with pre-established fan bases, already released CDs, band experience and serious musical backgrounds.
I think maybe you're over estimating their "pre-established fan bases". Chris was working for an auto repair shop, fer crying out loud. Sure, his band had cut some music, but without Idol he was never going to be "discovered". Maybe Taylor had a larger fan base in the Alabama area. I don't know.
Their initial fan bases may have gotten them through the first couple of rounds of voting, but it's been what they've done since they got on the show that's gotten them in the final 4, just like Elliott.
IMO, this is still a show about giving people a chance to become a "star" who would probably have never had that chance otherwise. And, we get to help decide who it's going to be. :-)

Yeah, definitely not her best two performances.
I agree, I'm thinking Kat, possibly even Chris. But, voters can surprise us and send Elliott home too. Tay tay is pretty much a lock.

I wonder if is whatever coach versus momma coach and guess who wins? With Katharine, you're absolutely right. With Chris, I just think it's his personality.
I would be very happy if either Taylor or Elliott were to win the competition. On one of the morning shows today, Simon said awhile back he thought Kellie Pickler and Chris would be the final two. Now he thinks it will be Taylor and Chris.

One of the people I noticed having 'shaky' teeth, was Swartzenegger's wife, Maria. It's weird because sometimes they look worse than at other times.
Look at Steve Buscemi. Great actor, and I think his teeth go along with the parts he gets. (Part of who he is) Incidentally, I've read that he is super smart.

First of all, they were within their margin of error
No, they weren't. Maybe they went back and changed it. They had Kat as 3-6 and Taylor and Chris both as 1-2. Taylor was either 3 or 4 and Kat and Chris were 1 or 2. They missed the top 4, but got the bottom 2.

I wish we could download from that link. :(

Went back and read my posts, and want to apologize for this one:
Oh, and nobody's been making fun of how others look? Or, does it only bother you when they talk about your fav?
I get just as frustrated with some as you have for their personal slams of the contestants. I have not once slammed anyone, and have defended several (way back in the Pickler days, especially). But, I shouldn't have made this post about you defending Elliot. My bad.
To: Senator Goldwater
Mainly because I am still hoping for a Two dog, One Kat night. Two dogs and a cat? Could be a lot of hissing. ;)
To: Texas2step
I think Chris and Kat are both receiving more text message support, and cell phone support. Can/does DI measure cell phone voters, or just land line voters? Last I knew it was just land line, more to the point, modem dialed calls.

Depending on tonight's vote Taylor will be in Birmingham on Friday for the hometown parade and tour for the AI show. He will be on Rick and Bubba's show Friday morning. They were talking about it this morning. All the final 3 contestants will be taped in their hometowns on Friday. :)

Now we have people on the show with pre-established fan bases, already released CDs, band experience and serious musical backgrounds. The pre-established fan base is often used to put down Taylor. The truth is that the Soul Patrol came about in late Feb/March on the AI boards. His fan base was based got started when his audition was aired. People who don't normally watch the show heard him and immediately started looking up information about that gray haired guy.
Taylor actually put Under the Radar together late last year after he auditioned from what I read. It is basically a demo. It is NOT a studio quality album. It is very good and enjoyable though. It's well worth my money but it's a good demo record. Taylor simply capitalized on the fact that his name would be recognizable from the audition. He did major in business, marketing and communications. He evidently paid attention too.
Why should he and others like him be constantly put down for sticking to their dream? That has been the one thing that Elliott's fans have been whining about on every board. Taylor has earned his place in the competition. His dad had basically given him the talk about career change and this was his last shot at making it in the music business.
The ONLY criteria the show has is not to be signed to a major record label and meet the age requirements. That's it. If they wanted more restrictions as to who can compete then they would provide more restrictions.

Thanks for that link! I had missed last night's show, and I was happy to get to see Elliot's and Taylor's best performances. Thank you.
To: Wolfstar
Amen. I liked Kevin as well. He has that wonderful self-deprecating sense of humor.
To: SirLinksalot
John Peter Lewis always made me laugh. He wasn't the best singer but I always enjoyed his enthusiasm. :) Nice post thanks. Although I don't think Elliot will go home tonight. I think it will be Kat. Hope so anyway.
To: All
Has anyone seen any of the Idol boards, or seen any predictions for who goes home tonight?
To: OldFriend
I was in second grade when Elvis died. Remember some of the little kids crying. :( My teacher was upset too.
To: Texas2step
Very gracious of you. Thanks for that. It's easy to get frustrated on the threads, but you just showed the rest of us how we should all behave. Thank you. :)
