I don't understand how anyone can say Kat isn't good enough. That girl has the pipes! But to each his own I suppose.

Try to have FUN you two! Isn't that what this is all about? That's what it's about to me. The other poster seems hell bent on being nasty to everyone.

Chris was pretty good too--his voice blends well with Elvis tunes.
It really does, and I'm surprised to see myself type that! He had the same register/tonal quality that allowed him to smoothly sail through the Elvis covers, especially the first. Suspicious Minds was VERY well done, Conversation was ok but the song is wierd frankly.
To: ladyinred
She doesn't use them properly. She misses far too many notes and cannot manage the higher range. Paris, Lisa Tucker and Mandisa had her beat on that score.

I finally got to see the show. I loved the Elvis theme. I thought they ALL did a great job, and do NOT comprehend some of the "judges" comments. Taylor's Jailhouse Rock, ROCKED, perfect song for him, and I loved Kat's two different types of songs. They were all so darn good! Great show this week, they haven't all been this year!!! Thanks again for the thread and the pings.

Chris handles all of the rock bands. Taylor can likely handle the ones that don't need something really belted out. Elliott will go to the R&B/Jazz charts. Kat???? She's not good enough to sing pop music.I'll have to hear Chris with a rock band to be able to compare him to other lead band singers. My two favorite rock songs of the past year or so are 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' and 'Wake Me Up When September Ends.' I just can't hear Chris in my head doing justice to them. Could be wrong though. That's why I say I'd need to hear him with a band.
Stylistically, I thought Taylor is probably closest to Springsteen of that current top 10 list.
Elliott definitely is Adult Contemporary and Jazz. Modern R&B is too heavily "urban" and influenced by hip-hop/rap for Elliott.
Kat could do pop. After all, Britney Spears and several others became big stars while being unable to sing a note, and Kat's better than that. Kat's problem is that she doesn't see herself as pop, but as a Celine Dion type diva. Unless she has something she hasn't shown us yet, Kat will never be a Houston/Dion type power singer. If she insists on going that route, they'll have to make up for her deficiencies with studio tricks.

LOL - post 1208 - is that you, Tony Soprano :)

My rankings:
1. Taylor -- 1st was a little close to Elvis imitation, but Ghetto was one of the best songs of the whole season
2. Chris -- Starting to sag, since this isn't his genre, but still better than...
3. Elliot -- Bland kid with a nice voice. The second song was both monotonic to start out with and silly for his All American Boy image
99. Kat -- stunk on both songs. Forgot lyrics, pitchy all night, screetching. Tried to make it up by shaking her money-maker. Must have been coached by Thalia (Mottola's wife), since that is HER style.
Your take?

"Speak softly love and hold me warm against your heart
I feel your words the tender trembling moment start
We're in a world, our very own
Sharing a love that only few have ever known
Wine colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights, when we are one..."

Conversation was ok but the song is wierd frankly.Doing this song reminded me of "Innuendo",...nothing memorable about either one of them.

Elliott has an All American Boy image????

Wassup with Tony Mo' calling out Elliot as a member of the Tribe with that Bar Mitzvah comment? Too funny!

It's funny when I see people post about him. He sings a love song and he's boring even though he's talking to someone back home. When he sings up tempo he's not believable even though he's having a good time with it and showing some energy. He dances around and people say he sucks at it but if he sits and sings a song he's boring.
