Still, the book is a welcome look into a formative period of American history and a reminder that the West's trouble with jihad did not begin in 1948 with the creation of Israel.

But I heard there was no declaration of war against the Barbary pirates. Did congress vote 2/3rds to make war against them? If not, according to Buchanan, Jefferson and Madison should've been impeached.

Maybe those two Presidents had Joo neocons advising them to hurt our relations amongst the Arabs. /sarcasm

Any book that reveals accurate history is a welcome breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, most American "historians" of the past 180 have worked devilishly hard trying to paint the Catholic Church as evil invaders of Islam during the Crusades. Until the aftermath of 9/11, most Americans would, if asked, tell you that the Church tried to conquer islam and force them to convert. But as most people now understand as a result of the WOT, Islam has been the human version of Black Plague from the moment Mohammed murdered his first infidel.

"Eventually, this holy piracy evolved into a nice money-making scheme"

What an odd thing to say. Does the reviewer really think that Mohammed and his thugs have ever had a "higher" motive than looting? The Koran should be published under the title "Caravan Raiding (and murder and pedophilia) for Dummies".
