The Durham District Attorney's election has become a referendum on Nifong's handling of the Duke lacrosse case, voters at the Durham County Agricultural Building on Foster Street said this morning.
"I think it's been pursued properly," said Laurel Fredrickson, 48, a Duke graduate student who voted to keep Nifong in office. "Nifong has done what he has to do."
Wade Marlette said he cast his vote for Black, largely because of Nifong's pursuit of the Duke case.
"I think he's rushed to judgement," said Marlette, 68, who taught logic and philosophy at N.C. Central University for 31 years and did one year of graduate work at Duke. "I don't think he should have given his opinions."
