here's something to consider
A local highway, RT206 here where I live, went under construction a few years back. The idea was to widen a section of the highway for a lenght of three a half miles.
No major structures to move, no mountains to dynamite, a widening project...moving telephone poles,regrading,repaving..3 1/2 miles. It took 4 yrs to complete...4 LONG,CONE DODGING,CONSTRUCTION HORSE WRANGLING,LANE MANUEVERING,UNEVEN PAVEMENT BOUNCING YEARS...
.....in November of 1932, they redirected the colorado river and in September of 1935, Teddy Roos dedicated the Hoover Dam.
So much for local state road funds

...in September of 1935, Teddy Roos dedicated the Hoover Dam. Always knew he was a remarkable man, but dedicating a dam after being dead for 15 years...wow!
