I'm a little confused. I know that the police were asking "who" was at the party. But, I thought the players did not talk to the police? Did they just not answer the questions?
I wouldn't assume that everyone in the dorm who police might have approached immediately cut off conversation with the detectives before the detectives had a chance to ask any questions.
Perhaps the lacrosse players listened to the questions, and then asserted their right not to answer without counsel.
Perhaps some of the players did engage in a conversation with the police.
Perhaps other students, not lacrosse players with lawyers, were asked by the police what they had heard about who was and who was not at the party.
