And, on that note, how are you doing missy?
HERE IS THE LATEST UPDATE FROM EV'S COMPANY COMMANDER:
"Hello again from Kuwait. As I'm sure you have heard, the weather is starting to heat up here. It has been in the 90's a couple days already, but it will soon be as hot as 120 or 130 degrees. I can't imagine it being that hot and I'm sure we will all have a new appreciation for the coolness of Wisconsin winters.....
....Soldiers working at the entry control point of one of the camps we secure recently moved their operations out of the sun. The camp constructed a "sunshade" - a large overhead cover with lanes underneath for vehicles to drive through. Soldiers who search the vehicles and personnel entering the camp are now able to do so out of the glaring sun. We also have, or will soon have, air conditioned areas at all the places soldiers work for them to use to escape the heat at times during the day.
The third group of soldiers on leave is due to return back here within the next few days. The next group will depart shortly after that. I know you are all helping your soldiers to make the most of their well deserved break so they return re-energized and ready to complete our mission here.
The soldiers of Charlie Company continue to do an excellent job providing security for all of the other Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, Sailors, and civilian contractors who work at and pass through the camps we secure on a daily basis. The mission we have can be tedious at times, but our soldiers remain mission-focused and we frequently hear positive comments about their performance. Very soon, soldiers will have the opportunity to participate in trips that visit some of the local sites and experience some of the Kuwaiti culture. This should be a good experience for all who participate. There are also recreational events and entertainment available to the troops here at the camp where we live. Mpst recently, the country band Montgomery Gentry put on a show that quite a few soldiers had the opportunity to attend.
Again, I want to thank you for all the support you show for your soldiers. We definitely could not do it without the backing of our family and friends at home."
WHO WAS PRESIDENT WHEN THIS OCCURRED?
Again, I want to thank you for all the support you show for your soldiers. We definitely could not do it without the backing of our family and friends at home."
We thank you, sir and your men. While it's difficult at times due to the worry, you are the true heroes.
..He's in my prayers!!
.........but the Chairman of this thread won't let me mention his name.;^)
Thanks Guennie......appreciated!
Bill CLinton
I did.... was that a trick question????
I love this man....I do....but I'm listening to him, and do not agree with his stand on this!
I'm tired of the ...'jobs Americans won't do'....I'm tired of hearing this...and I resent him saying this!
There may be many hard working Mexicans here...illegally....but they're here illegally.
President Bush is saying some right things...
..but he still holds out for the illegals catching a break, and I don't think that's fair.
I have some Scottish friends here, who go to my church, and they're jumping through hoops to stay in America.....they have a green card, but they want to stay here.
They are having to cross all the t's and dot the i's to do so....
..they are a darling hard working couple with two bright children.
They're trying to do it the right way.
Am I offbase objecting to what the President is saying?
I keep remembering the interview this AM on Fox and Friends....the Utah policeman who have to watch 100 illegals roll through their town every night, and can do nothing about it!
:-)
I'm with you on this one, guennie. I do love this man, our President, but i disagree with (b)some (/b) of his positions on immigration. And I do wish he'd executive order drilling in ANWAR or, at least, reduce the gas taxes we pay at the pump.
In fact I haven't been watching much news at all since Ev left. Just can't stand all the negativism, esp. re: the war effort.
But you raise some valid points IMHO.
I will let others respond who are more knowledgeable.
Have great day, ALL. I'm off for right now.
See you later, Toots.
Exactly!
I elected the President to do the best he could. He is. I don't know enough about the immigration problem to make a decent judgement. I would judge most of the illegals come here for work, although we do seem to be getting a lot of criminals over the last few years. I think beefing up the border should be the first thing done. After that, I don't know. We can't deport them all, although we could make a dent, I suppose. And immigration laws are so complicated that it makes it hard for legal immigrants (like your friends) to do the right thing in order to be able to stay here.
One thing I found out is that immigration quotas are set by the State Department. I think it would be good to get that pack of weasels out of the visa business.
