"Hey i'm sick of paying 3 dollars a gallon. "
Me too. But, I built my first house in 1989, for $52 a square foot, including the lot. I build my fourth home two years ago, for $135 a square foot, and that house is currently worth about twice what I paid for it...or, about $270 a square foot.
The price of gas is rough as a cob. But it affects my life one hell of a lot less than the price of a home. It might cost me $6 a day to drive my truck. But, it costs me about $70 a day to own my house.

Now, do the same math with food, clothing, medical costs, insurance, taxes, wages, popcorn, telephones, water, etc. etc.
The whole thing is another silly "created" crisis to get the media and politicians through the long boring summer months.
