Why would they need to cut up the shoe and flush it anyway! They most likely just tossed the damned hideous shoe in the trash.
Who in their right mind would expect them to return it the next day.

I do not think it would be evidence of something nefarious if the DA found out the one of the players threw away her shoe. What else were they suppose to do with it.

Now, if one of them kept the shoe back at their dorm and it was found...that could be seen as strange.

They wouldn't, but if they TRIED, it would mean they were trying to conceal something and Murphy would make sure they were caught. Throwing it in the nearest trashcan would definitely be the best option.
