Well, I don't buy that. Although the Navy has women in just about any other combative roll, they still don't give women orders to submarines. A quick look at any CREO message will show this fact (note #4 on the most recent CREO message).

I can't get to it here but the N&O front page story on Sunday listed the vessel on which she served. I don't recall it as a sub but it would be easy enough to check.
