Sorry folks, this is pathetic. I was in the middle east at the time, and well before, and Iraq's oil was a non-issue. The real reasons for invading Iraq were just as the President said. This story is a very weak, economically unsound, conspiracy theory with no real supporting evidence, or even logic to it. Sorry, this just doesn't pass even the weakest smell test.

Concur. Unless the real reason was/is to have an *unsinkable aircraft carrier* for future Middle East military efforts, as Great Britain so served for the Allied invasion of Europe during WWII.

Why would we need such a base? Oh, in the event of an Iranian nuclear attack on Israel, for example. Or a Muslum fundamentalist revolution in Saudi Arabia....
