On the one hand, there is a valid need to protect genuinely novel inventions. On the other hand, the USPTO is apparently run by a 2 KB program running on a Commodore 64 BASIC.

I would agree that the current system has its share of problems. Too many patents are being approved that should be stopped during the review process. But that, it itself, does not invalidate the entire notion of software patents. If there's a problem, fix it. But don't destroy the apparatus.

Lies claiming ... VMWare kernel is linux based

He said a version of Linux with a kernel containing VMWare-specific modifications is the base OS, and it runs Windows in virtuals above that. VMWare has been pushing mods to the Linux kernel to implement the Virtual Machine Interface (as opposed to Xen) to let VMWare run better on Linux.

Lies that Windows systems need to be rebuilt after compromise but not linux ones

It's Microsoft that suggested the rebuild. We simply showed how easy it is to avoid a rebuild when Linux is rootkitted (and even avoid a reboot in many cases). In that thread you also engaged in character assassination through guilt by association.

Lies that Osama Bin Laden doesn't get a free copy of linux if he wants

Don't recognize obvious jokes, do you?

Lies that Beowulf clusters couldn't exist without free software

You were told this: The DEFINITION of a Beowulf cluster includes using free software. You wouldn't be considered such a troll if you didn't keep repeating things that have been proven wrong.

Lies that ... stallman doesn't oppose patents

Classic GE! And here I thought you'd reformed. If you remember, you said he opposes all patents, I reminded you that he only opposes software patents (as previously was USPTO policy before activist judges stepped in), you then kept confusing the set of all patents with the subset of software patents. You finally started saying "software patents" but now you've reverted.

Lies ... that it's safe to go to hacker sites for your security updates

It was a flash tutorial on how to install, not a place for security updates. You were told that in the thread, yet you repeat it here. Also in that thread you claimed "yet none of the Linux companies can ever the uptime of microsoft.com" when a simple check at Netcraft will show even www.knoppix.net blows away www.mircosoft.com for uptime. That ignores that fact that many *.microsoft.com domains use Linux.
