Actually, two single A64 3800s will out fold a single A64 X2 3800. The A64 3800 runs at 2.4MHz, and the A64 X2 runs at 2.0MHz. The big difference? The X2 is only 10-20 dollars more than the single core. Also, OC'ing the A64, with a quality board, cooling and memory, you might get 2.9. OC'ing the X2 will get you 2.4, maybe a touch higher at best.I'm playing right now with a X2 4200, 2.2GHz, and have it at 2.52. I think I can get 2.6, but no more.
If money is no object, build 2 A62 boxes. If the biggest bang for your buck is important, go with one X2 box. Option 3 is to start saving your money now, and wait until AMD brings out their Quad-Core.
Or just do what I do...go down to your local library and borg all their computers (It's a joke FRiends)
