They can be sued, of course, but I doubt if the complainant would win, because the manipulation is so crafty and known only to the insider producers. It would be a hard case to prove.

But if someone sues and wins, it could ruin the careers of the two Simons; the Randy, the Paula, the Seacrest and others. It would be like the $64,000 Question scandal of the olden days.

Someone suggested on Scarborough that the FCC shoud crack down on AI and its producers and give them a hefty fine (if the public is being manipulated). Joe's expert said the FCC can't do a thing because the production company is British??? Maybe some legal-type person on here can clear that up.

True. It WOULD be a hard case to prove unless it was possible to catch someone redhanded messing with the sound system just before a contestant went on the air, or something equally nasty like that.
