LOLOLOL!
Simon finally called out Chris for being a one trick pony. His entire act has been repeated ad nauseum, with the flashing lights, the brooding countenance, and the upper range angst. Tonight he even threw in a vein on his head about to burst. Simon is right: America doesn't want a serial killer as their next Idol. This might be seen as a pivotal show for Daughtry's story arc.
Weak show overall, but Katherine continues to be consistently great both technically and in the way she presents herself.
And Taylor made a good move showing some range. He needed this performance.
Mandisa got evangelical, which is why Simon called it "self-indulgent" Brits don't get the whole American bible belt thing. But in fairness to Mandisa, her performance last week would've been hard to top in the best of circumstances.
Paris is completely annoying, in a star-searchy jon-denet recital kind of way. She's entirely too cocky from being told her whole life that she was born for this.
Lisa is going home for similar star-deach reasons, although I don't find her the least bit arrogant like I do Paris.
So while this was not a great week overall, it does advance the ball as impressions continue to harden. This week will come back to haunt Paris and Chris.
