Oh, EW!!

The whole thing jumped the shark when Jack left. I don't even bother anymore. The last episode I watched was the one in which Sam had the head injury and was alone and hallucinating on the ship.

I will just start all over at the beginning and watch REAL SG-1.

Besides, how stupid is it to have two guys who look so much alike? I always have to double take when I walk by DH watching to see if that WAS Daniel or not.

In the season finale did the Ori destroy the Asgard ship?

Oh yeah, Claudia Black. Definitely glad to see she's going to be around. Makes it worth watching just for her. They really need to build some backstory for the Ori though. Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen anything like they had for the Asgard, the Ascended, or even the Goa'uld. Heck I think I know more about the Nox than I do the Ori.

And I've been pleasantly suprised with Browder's addition. Didn't think I'd like it but he's done a passable job. Of course not up to the level of Richard Dean Anderson but decent.

Why does every Alien in the universe speak english

Because the Goa'uld and the Asgard ruled on Earth as gods? They would need to relate to their subjects over time. Not to mention the Atlanteans were on Earth for awhile. Considering those are three of the five races, one would think the Nox could have picked it up during their meeting alluded to back in season two I believe (when O'Neill first stuck his head in the ancients machine).

The Ori? Possibly because they read minds of their subjects? Not sure on that one.

How long would you watch if you only understood one side of the conversation? Or had to read subtitles?

That was two or three seasons ago. For this current season of SG1, the production crew uped the quality of the episodes greatly. They brought in new acting talent from all over the place, not just Ms Black and Mr Browder. But also Mr. Bridges, L. G. Jr., amoung others. They also uped the quality of the scripts, plot and special effects.

You really need to get SG1 a second chance. It is do very well right now. Also the new Dr. Who series looks good, Episode "Rose" wasn't so great, but Episode "The End of the World" was good scifi.

Some of them don't - the Unas, for example. The Goa'uld use some variant of Ancient Egyptian among themselves, too.

Only 10 seasons? And at least three seasons worth of spinoff? Dismal failure, obviously.

Not just English, modern English, with an American accent. And almost all the aliens are humanoid. It is just pathetic.

The core cast is fine. The writing -- well, maybe Harlan Ellison still has a script or two in him.

Actually, the thing about the original "Star Trek" I loathed the most was the "It's another life form, we must communicate with it" followed closely by the prime directive crap. As you may notice the Enterprise wound up in conflict with a whole bunch of other life forms, aside from the Kirk "It's a female lifeform, let's conjugate it" episodes, and the prime directive was observed mostly in the breach. What made STAR TREK a success was the interaction of Kirk, Spock and McCoy, a formula that largely failed when tried in subsequent series.

What did make them all was the conflict/interaction with: Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Jem Hadar and the Borg [and the views of those societies]. I always thought the absolute WORST Star Trek series was VOYAGER, which was the closest to the exploration theme. The only things on that show worth watching was Seven of Nine [the Spock prototype, this time with curves] and the Doctor.

Their ancestors learned it from Lord Vader.

My big disappointment is that Browder's character is too much like Anderson's - and I really got to dislike O'Neill. He was played way too dumb and spacey for a Colonel who was a pilot and Special Ops. Anderson didn't touch Kurt Russel's portrayal in the movie. That was a warrior and SG1 CO I could believe.

And Julian Sands is doubling as the head of the Ori and the head terrorist [so far] on this year's 24.
