"Bad analogy...A gun is an inanimate object with no will of it's own."
A better analogy would be driving around on bald tires and crashing into a bunch of kids at a bus stop. The owner chooses to do so and is convicted of Manslaughter. Just as the States are convicting Pit Bull owners of Manslaughter due to their decisions to own a inherently dangerous dog which goes own to kill a human.
"You have to stop using human psychology on dogs and attributing human characteristics to them as well."
I don't have to do anything as I make a responsible dog ownership decision! Failure of Pit Bull owners to make good ownership decisions has brought this upon themselves.
There is no right to own a dangerous fighting breed, just as there is no right to own a leopard.
"Each year, 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs. These bites result in approximately 12 fatalities; about 0.0002 percent of the total number of people bitten. ".....
"In the United States from 1980 through 1995, a total of 1318 deaths were attributed to lightning, (average: 82 deaths per year {range: 53-100 deaths}). Of the 1318 persons who died, 1125 (85%) were male, and 896 (68%) were aged 15-44 years. The annual death rate from lightning was highest among persons aged 15-19 years (6 deaths per 10,000,000 population; crude rate: 3 per 10,000,000). The greatest number of deaths attributable to lightning occurred in Florida and Texas (145 and 91, respectively), but New Mexico, Arizona, Arkansas, and Mississippi had the highest rates (10.0, 9.0, 9.0, and 9.0, respectively)"
I'll let you look up the sources...and please get to work on outlawing lightning....it's a killer y'know...
