My ultra-conservative son said the same thing - - 'Crash' is not an overly judgmental film, nor is it accusatory, overbearing, politically correct, or "in-your-face" in any way. He says it's a flat-out great movie.

I think the Academy got it right.
Let the, "Oh that'th thimply ridiculeth!", wails of the sodomy community begin.

Your son is wrong.

Couldn't agree more.
You should be proud of your discerning son.

I agree with your son! It deserved the win tonight.

Your son has it exactly right in his descripton of that movie. That Hollywood would let such a movie be released is puzzling.

It truly isn't the typical movie on racial matters.

This is a ch__ch. What's missing?

"Crash" was a fantastic movie and well deserving of Best Picture. I was worried about the racial overtones early in the movie, but by the end it showed that everyone has prejudices not just white's, and it also showed the Bay Guy is sometimes the good guy, and the Good Guys sometimes do very bad things.

On another note, didn't you just want to gather Reese witherspoon up and hug her after that acceptance speech -- she is so cute and bubbly and full of life.
