TOM Cruise wants to call his new baby Hubbard — after the founder of his wacky Scientology religion, L Ron Hubbard.
But the actor, 43, faces opposition from fiancée Katie Holmes, 27 — due to give birth in weeks.
An insider said former Catholic Katie, who converted to Scientology, is concerned at being “a laughing stock”.
I was actually tempted to go inside their spacious office and ask the cute brunet sitting behind the desk some questions about Scientology, but thought better of it.
As much as I love conversing with cult-like, quasi-religious weirdos in this city-and get a vicarious thrill whenever I pass by a Jehovah's Witness temple, or a Christian Science reading room-I wanted to be on the same safe.
I probably would have woken up somewhere on the Florida shore-with one of my kidneys harvested-the next day.
You never know with Scientologists.
