Where does One Step Beyond figure in? I only know of it from the soundtrack album.

Very early 50's. All I remember is a person holding a candle and saying in a low voice the exaggerated, "and this is lights out." Used to scare me. The program must have been similar (it was a regular) but since I can't remember anything else (too young) what do I know. Furthermore, nothing can compare to Twilight Zone in my opinion.

That's the perfect babysitting episode.

Twilight Zone, without a doubt!

I think that there may have been more sustained drama in The Outer Limits (I've got a full set of episodes I taped off air years ago but never got around to watching all of them).

The Twilight Zone had an "unusual situation" and maybe a twist at the end but not always a lot of plot inbetween.

That said, I'd probably turn on the Twilight Zone first if the two shows were aired opposite each other.

There were all sorts of radio shows (Inner Sanctum, Lights Out, Dimension X, Suspense...).

Most (if not all) are public domain now and can be found on CD (or mp3). I even heard a Rod Serling radio show from the 1960s.

Indeed...in that episode, when they were giving that giant alien a lie detector test, they asked him to lie on purpose to see his reaction..when they asked him how he got to earth, he said, "I Walked"...that sent my two boys into hysterics every time they saw that episode, and that giant said "I Walked"....

They were glued to the TV for that episode, and I could get the rest of dinner done, without a peep from them...

That'll keep you out of the corn field. You've won a free airplane ride with William Shatner at 35,000 feet.

Where does One Step Beyond figure in?

Oooh, good question.

I only saw one episode, maybe 30 years ago?

Gosh, it's all a blur.

I remember thinking it was alright, about even with most of the average 'Outer Limits' episodes.

Something about a guy who couldn't go to sleep cuz "bad things" happened, if I'm remember right.

Another great episode from the Twilight Zone, was the one where the store mannequin did not return from her few days of freedom, among the rest of us humans...

I never could go into a store after that, and look at a mannequin, and wonder if she was going to come to life, and step out for a few days of fun...

Very early 50's.

Ah -- sounds cool!

I was born in '64, so I missed that, I'm afraid.

I will try to remember to find some DVD's tho.

I'll never forget the episode where the girl was 'dreaming' of the earth getting further and further away from the sun, becoming colder and colder. Her body temp was getting colder and colder.... All the docs were called in, they had no medical reason for her condition. It was looking pretty bad for her.

Her family was nearby discussing her condition.

The sun was changing orbits, getting closer and closer to Earth. The family was worried about breaking this news to the girl when she woke up, about the earth getting closer to the sun, not knowing about the girl's dream. The girl woke up from her dream and the parents had to tell her, she wasn't freezing, she was boiling. I'll tell you, those shows were more scary than the 'best' horror show hollywood produces today.

A freeper, a post, and a cold winter night, only you can find the answer in "The Twilight Zone".

"Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up".

The Outer Limits was far scarier, far more subtle, far more intense. It was a great, great show.

I believe it was the other way around in that episode.

A particular favorite of mine was "Uncle Simon."

I mean, that's the perfect babysitting episode where, you could leave your kids and knew we'd behave because the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits would keep in line. No kid after watching those two shows dared to misbehave.

It's all a matter of personal taste, but I'm with you.
