The Apprentice Live Thread
Vanity

Posted on 02/27/2006 6:06:23 PM PST by mnehring

Something that was useful at the MBA Association I would like to recreate here is a live thread (completely vanity) on The Apprentice. This is for only those who actually enjoy the business aspect of the program and would like to analize the actions of the members.

Apprentice UK: Here's a pavilion in the Times River Festival. 500,000 people will be here, your challenge is to put together a food booth for the event. Team 1: Wok'd noodles with various toppings, team 2: Odd pizza like things.

Apprentice US: Make a billboard style banner that will fit in a 20' x 15' space. Also do a presentation to back up your billboard.

Would someone from the US please have some videos sent over from the UK and watch that series? I know this corporate sponsor of the week is profitable for the US series, but please, it's really becoming an embedded half hour infomercial spaced out with other commercials. It's going to be a constant complaint, and I should stop it, but I'd really like to see some thinking outside the box by the producers.

Speaking of thinking outside the box; the overall creativity of both teams in putting together the banner was lacking. I doubt that either banner would be actually used by Post. One promotes gluttony, the other depicts some May-December relationship.

Research is a critical part of any advertising task, and getting out and asking the public could have come up with some great ideas. Even setting up a few tables, some small bowls and a little milk in the lobby of a building could have garnered some great ideas.

As for the boardroom - same song as normal. Keep your mouth shut; don't get diarrhea of the mouth. Every time someone does, they talk themselves into getting fired. Especially when there's not all that much to point to as a critical error.

The "infomercial" aspect is what keeps the show going. When the corporations dry up, so will the series. In earlier seasons, Trump had them do such non-corporate things as home and motel renovations, senior citizen expos, etc. They spread out the corporate ties. In their fifth season, it's getting difficult for them to be creative, yet relevant.

I don't know abou the U.K. version but the U.S. one is quite personality driven. They obviously find a few oddball candidates who have no chance in hell of winning but make for lively television and eye-catching promos. Brent was obviously this season's ringer and Trump probably fired him too soon because the group is going to seem duller without him unless they now begin to eat their own.

He shouldn't have fired Brent, I agree. Too soon. But it seems like the only goal of Synergy was to work on getting rid of him. Too bad he had to have such a mouth. He may have stayed a little longer...

I hate to say it but it was good to go ahead and fire Brent so we can stop thinking about him! He should not have been so extreme in saying the PM stank. Now that Brent is off the plate, I can't wait for the big frictions to develop.

I wish some Apprentice would come out with a tell-all book. I'm fascinated with the behinds the scenes stuff.

Last night I was most amused when the one team got the female model in the van. Did you see the guy in the seat back of her grinning and his eyes sticking out. It was almost a scene out of an abduction movie! Also, there must have been a whole lot left on the cutting room floor. Certainly that girl off the street did not so smoothly just believe this bunch of loons and hop into their van and go off with them to be a model. That did cause me some concern.

Is Ivanka here to stay? I thought it inappropriate that Trump kissed her on her first appearance. He kissed her good bye as he left the teams to their tasks. I was reading about the huge real estate job Trump has her in at the ripe old age of 24. I bet it is a real joy to work under her.

""Certainly that girl off the street did not so smoothly just believe this bunch of loons and hop into their van and go off with them to be a model""

That was strange that she went with them for what 200 dollars?

I don't like the people in this season. Couldn't they find better? The show just doesn't click.. Oh well there is always AI tonight..

I like to think that the show producers were all over the scene doing the paperwork and we only saw her going off with them. Still, it gave me pause.

You know, I don't like the people this season either. I thought it was just me.

Have you noticed that the rewards are getting much, much weaker? Remember the first season when the winners had fabu ritzy rewards. Then in subsequent seasons I feel they quickly became experiences that most anybody could arrange.

By the way, as much as I like all cereal Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch sounds awful to me. But it is said to be good at Mr. Breakfast: http://www.mrbreakfast.com/product_display.asp?productid=52

Only 5 1/2 hours to AI!

This season is double deadly. The contestants aren't brilliant and most aren't telegenic either. There's a real lack of a "babe" factor this season, at least for me.

Maybe now with Brent out of the way, we'll see more personalities develop other than Lenny's. I'm a little annoyed by all the crying reactions when the boardrooms are over. Sheesh. If Trump hires you and things don't go how you want, do you think he'll understand you running off to the bathroom to bawl your eyes out?

It always amazes me how many contestants don't grasp that only one person wins. The NCAA basketball tournament is underway and 64 of the 65 teams are going to end their season with a loss. 17 of the 18 applicants for The Apprentice are going to get fired. Does it matter if it comes in Week 1 or Week 15?

I don't know why I have no interest in AI. I think it's probably because I think most of today's music is formulaic and unimaginitive.

I did not like the ads. They were nothing special at all. Now, that was a special reward! I thought for a while there the rewards were getting rather watered down.

I sure hope it picks up a little.. There is something different about this season... Maybe it is the contestants..But then again even Trump seems different..

I agree that this season there are no remarkable contestants. Well, there was Brent but he is gone. I'm not sure what is wrong this time.

I have the same feeling about Extreme Make Over Home Edition. I really love seeing people being helped and I wish I could have a part in that. Yet, this time it seems so formulaic. Deserving family. Leave town. Home gets transformed. Return. Cry. Gosh, I know that sounds terrible of me. I guess I'm just am finding that it looks all the same to me at this point.

I'm waiting for AI. Did you see that new one, Unan1mous? That is a strange deal, indeed. BTW that is not a typo. I believe they do spell it with a 1 in place of the i. Time for me to make my ice water and get ready for AI. I miss my Chicken Little. Now I don't have any underdog to root for.

No never seen that one.. Am I lucky?

I like Elliot...IMO he has the best voice and this is looking for the best singer.... Have you seen DEAL or No Deal? I kind of want the contestants to lose. They get to greedy... But then again I probably would be too...
