Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Went to the moving picture show today; saw "8 Below", it's a good movie. The dogs were the true stars of the show, the actors played second fiddle (with fairly cliched lines). Wished for more doggie scenes, some were quite outstanding.
LSA recommends a hanky for several of the canine scenes.
Would be interesting to find out the real story that 'inspired' the movie.

I'm gathering this will be a shop and a garage... The place already has a useful barn right?

Well, she'll enjoy the movie, hmmm. I'll bet Gypsygirl would too. :-)

thebarn that's standing is a piece of crap... built from old previously used materials and srap... can't believe it's still standing... it will go the way of the wild buffalo... the tin and salvageable lumber will be saved fer future projects... the rest will be burned...

Ah- I see. So these two pole barns will serve your 'barn storage and place to park the tractor and garden tools' needs? What about the stall for thegirl's pony :~D

Thought about putting a steer or two in there, but G'nad brings plenty of red meat in from deer season...plus, then we wouldn't have room for that pony you're bringing. :-)

I think I'll eventually give it a try to raise a steer or two... Part of the issue people have is they end up with quite a bit of steak, but also end up trying to give away a couple hundred pounds of hamburger. It's like zucchini :~D
My friend Kay says for ease, time and return on feed, nothing beats having a couple hogs.

She's a bad pony :~D
She's not trained and has a fractious personality... She threw her previous owner every time he was ever on her, I think.
It would be kindof "OK - if you don't behave I'm going to put you on thepony"

IRRC, the county assessor had a very different view of the barn/shed's value. Hmmm. Salvage for future projects, don't forget to straighten the bent nails, new nails are 'spensive. :-)
To: g'nad
Well, they are, but my friend kept them in two large pens that could be rotated... If they have a chance they do poop all in one spot. She also says they're not as messy if you feed them a good hog pellet instead of slop.
