Ooo, fun toys! I called a realtor first and got some off the record info on how likely I was to get in trouble when trying to resell it. The chance is pretty much zero. Since I am not making a bedroom down their and then trying to sell it as if it has more bedrooms. The only issue might be someone not wanting to buy it since I did the work with no permit. Considering how simple the work is they would have to be pretty squeamish to do that.

I would have the pay penalties to the city for not getting it inspected when I did the work if they ever found out about it. However if I lived outside city limits I could do anything I please with not permits needed. I have a philosophical issue with paying someone allow me to do work on something I always own. They can take their socialist permits and stick them some place darker than my basement. Any credibility that it is 'for my own good' goes out the window when most of the state needs no permits. There are several things I have done that might not pass inspection. Small stuff since I would not do anything that was actually unsafe. Many years ago as a homeschool project we added a room onto our house and I had to do the drawings for it and get it inspected and all that. For the actual building dad and everyone else 'helped' :D

It turned out great except me and dad were not nearly as good at roofing back then and it took two repairs to make it water tight. That was 11 or 12 years ago though. We did a much better job reroofing my house back in September.

We have drizzle too, but it's warmer :~D

We'll share some stiff drinks on the 15th.... how about that?

Can we write 'em off as "tax preparation expense?"

;-)

I was just thinking about how complicated taxes might be next year. I'll most likely have three jobs in three states, plus the whole getting married most of the way through the year... it might be not so fun. Oh well, we don't have to worry about that for a year yet!

Evenin' all.

I have conquered the IKEA table. It is stained. It is assembled. It is the perfect height for the intended sewing applications. Hurray.

Big'ol does the tax preparation in our household. I'd get anxiety attacks otherwise.

If you owe more than *a certain amount*, you may have to pay a penalty... I know, that happened to us last year.

Ehh, filing an extension doesn't let you put off paying tax owed... you still have to pay the estimated amount owed on April 15, even if you file for an extension.

I just did my TurboTax. Of course they got my "I work there, but I don't live there" city taxes wrong. I'll have to do them the old-fashioned way.

Maybe next spring yo should...just the one time...go to H&R for it.

I may be doing the same thing next year, and nobody's changing states in my case.

You have some kind of city income tax?

Yes...when I lived in the city, I paid as a resident. When I moved into a 'burb but continued to work in the city (which condition has existed for 18 months now, though I changed 'burbs four months ago), I began paying at the lower non-resident rate.

We gots it too. Work in KC and pay 1 percent, regardless of where you live. Now for the days you work outside of KC, you can get that amount rebated to you, if you file all the proper forms and the city actually decides to pay you. It can be done but it generally is accompanied by much wailing, knashing of teeth and lamenting.

Luckily we don't have city auto licenses any more.
