Where was Blade?

Blade lost 3 nails out of his shoe and we were afraid it would come off so he stayed in camp with my husband.

Oh, one more interesting thing has developed. I seem to have acquired another horse. He was apparently running loose Friday night and my BIL's neighbor came knocking on their door at 12:30 at night to tell him that there was a horse running up and down the road. My BIL went out and did a head count and all mine were accounted for but were running the fence like crazy. He didn't see the horse and and since they were fixing to leave to go on vacation (apparently he likes to drive at night), they went ahead and left. He called Saturday morning and told me about it and I went down there and sure enough, there he was standing by the gate, looking like a walking skeleton...

I can't believe people let horses get in this kinda shape. He's probably just been turned out in a pasture with a buncha cows and left to fend for himself. He's either been eating hay out of a hay ring or eating through a fence because his mane is pulled out in the middle. He seems like a nice horse. I've got no idea how old he is, but he's got a kind eye and seems to have a nice disposition.

He had this halter on when he got here but he's very easy to catch. We've called around all over the place trying to find out who he belongs to, but so far nobody knows anything. I've left word at the local vet's and at the animal shelter and have also put FOUND ads in two of the local papers that should start to run tomorrow. If somebody claims him, I think I'm gonna report them to the humane society for cruelty. The lady at the shelter seemed to think that somebody just turned him loose because they've been cracking down on cruelty cases here lately and have seized several horses and issued some fines. She said I could bring him there if I didn't want him. She's got several others that she's seized. I don't know what I'll do. Just play it by ear I guess. Right now he's just running in the pasture with my bunch, getting treated like a redheaded stepchild, but I feed him when I feed mine so he probably thinks he's died and gone to heaven. I'm sure he's wormy as the dickens but I'm afraid to worm him for fear of overloading his system. I'll have to ask the vet if it's ok. Sheesh! All I need is another horse to feed!
