I started getting excited to start riding again too, seeing Bay looking strong helped a lot, and all the talk of conditioning him up for another season got me thinking I should get started... not today, but probably every day I can from here on out. I was afraid he was gonna be in some kind of recovery period, but he isn't.
I need to do a couple things... I want to get on Bay here at home and do some walking big loops around the pasture, nice and easy, to get him back in some kind of working shape before taking him on a trail ride. With the mud up in the woods early in the season, the trails themselves can be a lot of work and he should be prepared slowly.
I also need to lunge Cyn and work on some manners and be sure her attitude is in the right place before ecurbh gets her under saddle. ecurbh just doesn't really have time to do that during the week. I think she's fine, she always is, but she has her snotty side ;~D
So both those tasks are pretty boring, but they need done. Might start tomorrow.
I know what you mean. I didn't had trouble getting started doing that lunging I did. Once I got started tho, I enjoyed it.
But nothing beats riding, especially when they're really working good, like he has the last two rides.
