Is all I can say about the saddle is it is NOT makeing him sore anywhere....so, I'm in a wait and see phase to see if he gets a sore like my old one did.
FWIW, one of the ladies we ran into said she had the same problem with her horse, getting a saddle that fit. She landed up having one custom made, paid $4000 for it, and still has dry spots, but no soreness....She's been riding in it now for 7 years....
Since he is here visiting, I took a few pictures of Celia's horse Stormy, he's 17. She's working to get him in shape for the CTR I'm shooting for too. He competed for years then she retired him while she got another one going, for about 4-5 years. now she wants to compete on him again. I was happy to hear her say she was not going to go Open class on him...
Harley wanted his picture taken.
And a picture of my iris, because they're so pretty:)

I just wish I knew what to do with him right now.
I've closed them out of the pasture, but he still has access to the back forty. There isn't a lot of grass anywhere, but I don't know whether he's getting too much anyway.
If he might be laminitic, what should I do? I'd like to give him some Bute and maybe hose his feet again, but should I not do that until the vet sees him?
Should I limit his movement or let him walk around with the mares?
Ugh.
As for her horse, Is he quarter horse? He looks a little old in those pictures, but most important, a lot too lean. Look at the difference in the amount of meat Harley's wearing compared to the neck and hindquarter of the old guy. Is she feeding him UP?
Harley looks great, so do the irises.
Ceilia's horse is way too thin. Granted he's 17, but I've seen lanky QHs that look a whole lot better than that. He's so think that his head looks too big for his body.
