The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Good Morning! I'm glad to hear that Bob's procedure went well. I know all the shots and medications are a pain right now, but it sounds like this has done the trick and he'll be back to his old self in no time. We'll keep on praying for you both just the same.

There's a good possibility that it doesn't fit:)

HOLY CRAP! How tall IS that horse?! Looks like about 19 hands to me if those other horses are normal size.

I once brought home a 17.2 hand trakehner to have a prepurchase exam done (he didn't pass). Anyway, he took up all three stalls in my 3 horse slant trailer. Had to keep his head down, too.

He does look 19 hands, or close to it. Wouldn't want to fall off him, that's for sure.

I saw somebody riding a mule once that was about that size. Biggest darned mule I'd ever seen. You know mules have got big bones anyways, but his were just HUGE.

And a good possibility he'd never notice.

Yeah, and you'd need a 6ft stepladder to get on him. You and your thing for big horses. LOL!

There seems to be a lot of this happening around here lately. This isn't the guy who owned the horse that I found, but maybe this'll scare him enough to make sure that horse is better taken care of...

I've been noticing that someone up the highway from me is collecting mules. I first noticed one or 2, now the guy has about 8. They are really pretty and shiny but the highway isn't close enough to the pasture to get an idea of their size.

Oh dear... Bob told me there were some seized a couple miles from here earlier this year too. It's probably happening everywhere, but sometimes we can't see it.

Slow here today.

I'm going to the barrel race tonight. Sure hope Kristy does as well this week as last. I'd like to see her and Rowdy have a good run.

I hope they have a good run too!

I'm pouting. I can't get the lawn mower started, it probably needs a new spark plug, we don't have any, and I don't want to go to town to get a new one. I wore my arm out trying to start it, so I don't even want to mow any more :~{ I'd rather just shoot the lawnmower than start it now.

Poor me, huh. I guess I'll do the $%*&# laundry.

Yeah, we haven't had much to say today have we.

My FIL just called and said he'd hooked the tractor up to the bush hog so I'm all lined up to mow this evening. I'm tickled coz the weeds are taking over. He also put the hay spear on the front-end loader and got another roll of hay put out for Tennessee, Bob, Grace, Hope and Ellie. I'm out of rolls where the mares and foals are so I'm going to put a couple of more rolls on a flatbed trailer and haul it down there to them. It sounds like a busy evening, but I'd just as soon do that as anything else.
