This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

I figured you would ask. I can't remember. It was a 2 seater. One in the front and one in the back.
That could be a Piper Cub or an Aeronca (Air Knocker". If he buys one, you get as many hours in it as you can. That is flying for the sheer enjoyment of it.
This is good, I'm in Zone5 or 6, depending on the map so it should be okay here. :)
Dividing Ferns: Often times, ferns such as Boston and sword outgrow their pots; then you have to divide or discard them. When it comes to dividing, ferns can take rather harsh treatment. In some cases, you may have to use considerable force to remove the plant from the pot. Once it's free, use a sharp, long-bladed knife to halve or quarter the root ball. Then, pull each quarter or half apart so you can spread the roots in the new soil. The main requirements after dividing are to water the roots and new soil thoroughly and to provide a humid atmosphere by misting the first few weeks.

I had asked my husband if I could go in with him. I was told I have enough projects:')
I'm on the line of 6-7, so I'm OK:)

Ok, this is getting to be like shoeing a horse. I think I have enough info now and need to stop looking:) Too much gets confusing. I'm going with what I've learned and hoping for the best:)

My first airplane ride was in a Piper Cub with floats. That was all it took ... I was hooked. My log book has five hours of flying an Aeronca Chief, (Air-Knocker). It had a hand start 65 horsepower engine and no electrics at all.
I told my dad that I guess I needed to buy a book and learn about planes. He's kind of a fly by the seat of your pants guy. He told" you don't need any books. If you got books you don't need an instructor".
It looks like they are spouting really good.
LOL! Get an instructor and the books, do it right. I tried to teach myself to fly in an ultralight, that was a bad idea.....
Sending you a PM shortly
He wants to learn how to fly a helcopter:')
They are fun to fly but I had no desire to be a chopper pilot.
He doesn't either.
Flight time is expensive in choppers, much more than airplanes.
I don't think he is planning on lessons. He has a friend who........
That is how I got my flight time in a chopper too. I could fly it in a straght line ok but did not get the hang of hovering. Needed more time to learn that part.
Yes, please - no more directions :) I never remember the important parts and end up making a mess of everything. I can handle water, fertilize, mulch. Past that, not a thing.
Good afternoon ping. It was a good weekend for R&R.
