I understand that. I wouldn't recommend you put yourself at risk, and I didn't mean to imply that. My situation was different, I didn't have that fear with my 'friend'. But the Humane Society woman can do it... with backup if she wants it.
Yeah, having another talk with the humane society lady is probably a good idea if the talk with the vet turns up questionable.
This is a good time to go to Florida:') Have a fun and safe trip.
It may be as he believes, Frog. If he thought he was in trouble he wouldn't have claimed him and wanted a puny horse back, I wouldn't think. Yall all know where he lives now. I would sure check with that vet though to make sure he doesn't have something you need to treat yours for.
Yeah. I can see that everything they want will help me in the long run but I'm on the short track right now. Something happened though. I've been praying a lot about this. Friday, she thought it was going to be very detailed and seemed... distant. The place uncomfortable too. They wear suits and whisper. She called and talked to the state though and they didn't need all that . I don't know what they told her but she seemed very engouraging now.
Thought you should know that we had Hogie [Hogie is Bob's old mule] put down this morning. He went down yesterday afternoon and just couldnt get up. We tried and tried but finally decided enough is enough. So, its a sad day at the Munsons. . . . Im not sure whos more upset Bob or Jessie. Bob was going to pick her up from school and they were going for a riding lesson so maybe that will help. The end of an era . . . .
Kay
I called him... He's not ready to talk much about it but he was glad I called.
I told him he sure gave Hogie a good life, and he agreed. I said "Dammit if they don't all get old" and he agreed with that too.
Then he said he'd talk about it in two weeks, and 'lets go riding'. I said "call me, and lets go riding"
He called back again after we hung up to say he appreciated the call and wasn't trying to be short with me.
I said I understood completely.
I've been through animal deaths with him before... When his old horse Beau had to be put down from Cushings, he didn't want to be there so I was there in his place. When his old dog was found, poisoned by the chicken farmer, I sat with him in silence and drank almost a whole bottle of Crown Regal with him. When my Logan was put down, he came to help me dig a hole and place him into it. He's always been a good friend.
It breaks your heart to see a really tough guy cry the most sensitive tears over a beloved animal.
RIP Hogie
Who is having seizures? :')
Heh... I don't know, but it doesn't sound fun :~D
Such a happy picture. He has one?
Aw, nuts. Good pic.
He had one mule... He has now his riding horse, the horse he's leasing for Jessie, and a pony. He went miles and miles on that mule, and he retired him a couple years ago. Hogie had really slowed down of late, he was really old. Not sure how old in years, but it was showing. He'd had episodes of being down too long before, this time it was the time.
It really is a great picture :~)
I bet Kay wouldn't like being called "husband of my friend Bob"...
Woops :~D
No shame in mourning a good faithful critter. But guys don't like to show tears.
Hogie was in more or less his prime in that picture... he's one more recent, that I took last summer. He looks older in it. I cut his ears off, which is, I think, probably the most unforgivable sin one can commit in mule photography, but it still shows his great face.
I love mules. That's a beautiful beast, imo.
I've never really wanted a horse, but I've kinda always seen myself riding a mule around my property.
Well, not my current property...
I've also kinda thought a burro would be nice...you know, the kind with the cross on it's back? I rode one with Steve in Mexico after taking a little boat across the Rio Grande. It's a fond memory of mine...a gringo honeymoon.
:-)
I've heard tales of that trip :~D
Donkeys are great... and mules too. I'd like to see you riding one around the place.
Heh heh!
Heh... that ought to keep him fighting for life :~D
That is outstanding. You got it made with God in your corner :)
