This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Your halter bridle looks really sharp on that gold horse, 'specially with the brass trim. If it's nylon and Mack's got a small soldering iron, that's the best way to get the holes you need.
I hope you like it too:)
It is a bit of a trick putting the bit in their mouths, since you don't have the headstall to help pull it up, But it can be done:). It was just a bit difficult with the bit that is broken, because it kept collapsing.
If you figure out an easy way, let me know:)
Becky
OK, thanks. I'm kind of waiting on Charlie to help me out:). He's my tack fixer upper.
Becky
I've been catching up on this thread and that one too and you and Tuffy made some really good points. But I agree with you that you're basically "Beating a Dead Horse" with that discussion over there. Hopefully it helped make people realize that other people are watching.
Like the Gestapo:)
Becky
Looks like an allergy to me.
Those are hives. Call your vet for an injection and it will fix him right up.
ROFLOL:)
I wish I could, but graphics aren't allowed.

I keep imagining a dressage rider in competition, stopping in the middle of his event, beating his horse because of some infraction, then continuing on. When someone mentions it, he says, "well, he's good as gold everywhere else. He only does that at a show."
LOL!!! Yeah, I really got a kick outta that one.
So funny you should post this. I just got off the phone with Kirk, who is the one that filed the formal complaint, the chiroprator guy that I meet there. I asked him if he knew about the yahoo group and he didn't. I told him about it, and about how they are saying that that one horse was good as gold every where else.
He laughed and said that is totally untrue, he knows the lady and the horse, and they have trouble with that horse all the time....
I tell you, I'm just getting more and more disappointed with this whole thing....so sad, especially when I finally get a horse who can do it:)
Becky
Those people are almost better at redirecting the focus of a discussion then Freepers:)
Becky
Yeah, they got on your @$$ quick enough! Like sharks to blood.
I wish they would post my messages, I would mention the dressage thingie. :)
So not only are they trying their best to justify the horse/rider behavior, they are actually lying. What a bunch of snots.
What an excellent analogy! I kept thinking this myself but you guys were doing so good, I didn't jump in there. If someone were beating their horse about the head and neck at an USEF sanctioned event, the TD would DEFINITELY do something about it. And, would make a report to the USEF and USDF which could result in fines, suspension, expulsion, and/or sanctions against the guilty party. I once got a verbal warning because the TD thought I had warmed my horse up too long!
If you do need the cavalry, I will be glad to stir things up on this. I joined the group in case Becky needed help. I also have some friends who would also help out if needed in making points.
Well, someone is. I guess it's just who you want to believe. At this point, on that point, I'll remain neutral with slight leaning towards what Kirk says. HE has nothing to gain from lying...
Becky
Thanks, but I think, as we said, we would be beating a dead horse as far as that group is concerned, so why create the stress for ourselves.
I do think Kirk is going to join, so that might be interesting:) we'll have to watch. But I'm pretty much done with it, unless the two board members who I've seen post over there show up. I'd be really interested to see how they stand.

BladeRider on her husband's horse Jake...
Me and Grace...
Some really DEEP mud. The boots held up well, even in this stuff...
I have more pictures of Frog and Grace on my camera but I have not downloaded them yet. I will post tomorrow. We had a great ride Sunday. I had to ride Jake because Blade lost 3 nails out of his shoes and we could not get a farrier up there to fix it (surprise, surprise) We rode a good 3+ hours that morning, ate lunch and went back out that afternoon for about 2 hours. Weather was pretty good, except for the last 1/3 of the ride. We got a little wet ;-)
