The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Sorry I haven't dropped by in a while, but the Hobbit Hole knife project takes a lot of what little spare time I have. I have to get my horse fixes here, and my kitten fixes at the Hobbit Hole. (Hair, have you posted any toxically cute kitten pics here lately?)

I also wanted to thank CindyDawg for her kind donation to the Hobbit Hole fund. That's another knife (or some other handy gadget) going out to a Soldier, and the postage to get it there.

Thank you.

Rick

Chewing on the tie rail is usually just boredom and sometimes frustration.

Some horses do eat unprotected wood habitually - also usually out of boredom... and there is a black kind of treatment you can paint on if they are chewing the barn down. They can do a lot of damage fast. SL was just bored.

I haven't taken as many toxically cute kitten pictures. :~D The cutest thing on this thread lately are the pictures of the foals :~D.

Those kittens killed two birds in two days, so I didn't find them very cute :~( - They also got a few mouses, a shrew and a mole this week, so I guess I shouldn't hold a grudge. Sport is sport, as far as they are concerned.

I was just getting around to posting this, because these mushrooms are so HUGH! I placed Tweek there to show scale. That big one is almost as big as a dinner plate.

I have heard that mixing up jalpaneo juice, or tabasco, or something hot and painting the wood with that will stop them from chewing on it. I don't know if that's true or not, never tried it:)

Might work! till it wears off - sounds blech to me! It probably would last longer inside, where it wasn't getting rinsed off by rain.

I've seen horses that will eat right through the black stuff... The problem is the horse is bored, and that's not fixed with paint.

Sometimes they develop a habit of it though, and they can be real hard on fences, real hard on barns.

I agree it's boredom. Best thing is turn them out, but SL is turned out, so I guess that's not a cure either.

I kinda like that swimsuit. At least you wouldn't have to worry about whether or not it rode up into your butt crack every time you bent over or sat down. I HATE it when that happens {and so does everybody else} ! ;o)

It is kinda cute, isn't it? Covers alot, that's what I like. Color is pretty, too.

Which one do you like better, the first one, or this one?

Jeez Louise those are big mushrooms! They kinda remind me of a recent Dean Koontz book about strange alien fungi taking over the world. Very strange! I'd have to work very hard to overcome the temptation to kick them over.

Yeah, I really like the color. Royal blue seems to be the best for my deathly pale skin tone.

Boredom can be temporary because she was tied. That's when Cyn does it. When she's bored or frustrated. She's gnawed at tie rails while we're on rest stops on rides... and she's chewed some scallops in her rails of the stall, if we aren't fast enough with breakfast.

Definately the first one. I think the fact that it's just one color {more or less) would be more slimming. I would be afraid that the horizontal dividing line between the black and the blue on the second one would tend to make your waist look big, even if it wasn't.

If I had her figure, I'd feel good wearing a hefty bag.

Actually, I take that back. If I had her figure, I'd feel good buck naked, since I have my figure, I'd feel better wearing a hefty bag. ;~D

LOL!!! That's what I was thinking when I first saw it. It never hurts if your swimsuit model might weigh 100 pounds soaking wet and has a 22 inch waist. I've NEVER seen a 'normal' looking swimsuit model.

Well good, coz kicking toadstools is almost as addictive as popping bubble wrap. I especially like the big round puffy ones that blow 'smoke' when you kick them. My Grandmother used to call them The Devil's Snuffbox. I've got no idea what they're really called.
