I couldn't say it as well as CindyDawg, she is so right. And you guys will be fine.
Thanks, we'll be fine. We got each other, and our horses, dogs, and cats. Anything else is gravy.
Everything is as it should be. :~D
Maybe you will get a nice vacation this summer, while He opens the next door. I like your outlook.
Thanks for the get well wishes. Very cute card, Hair. They must have worked. Feeling much better today and came to work. Bad news, it's raining again. :(
Sorry about the job lost, Ecurbh. But, remember, you were looking for a job, when you found that one. Something will come up, and most likely be a lot better.
Becky, my farrier at times has put wood putty on cracks. It looks simple enough, that you could probably do it yourself. Nothing wrong with using the duct tape either. Good Luck, I hope it holds for you. I am excited for you, going on this ride.
Hey, sorry to hear about the job setback, but I really like your attitude. When you don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff in the grand scheme of things, the good stuff just seems to fall into place. Man, just look how everything just clicked for Rosie when she moved up there. I think y'all will have some great time off and the right thing for you will pop up when it's supposed to. Enjoy it.
Well, he's a lot less stressed out now than he's been for the past month of uncertainty... There's been rumblings... a few people let go here and there, falling sales, not much to do, every day wondering if the other shoe was gonna drop, and wondering whether to stick it out or find a new job.
I think now it's a relief to just ~know~. Now it seems like a treat to have the income for another month or so, nothing to worry about because we know now. :~D
If it was me, I think I'd see about getting some kind of hoof bond on that missing chunk before the nails you have left in there work loose. I'm like you, that one nail in the front looks very precarious.
I think they give a shot of Occytocin. I always give one as a precaution as soon as the baby has gotten up and nursed for a while. I like to wait for that because almost as soon as you give it, the mare is going to start having contractions and will be up and down with them for about an hour. Even if she doesn't have a retained placenta, it helps clean out all the other stuff that may be left in there and gets them set up for rebreeding. Plus, as an added bonus, it strengthens the bonding process. It's a naturally secreted hormone that is triggered by nursing, but the shot gives an added boost. At least that's what my vet told me.
It also helps with milk let down in those first few days.
Yeah, I know how he felt. I went through 2 years of that when the company I work for told us that they were either gonna sell our plant or shut it down. They'd have potential buyers, but something would happen and it would fall through, and it went on and on. We were finally sold, and it all worked out (more or less), but it was pure torture while it was going on. Now this company is in dire financial straits and they've been going through the layoff and cost cutting routine again, but I ain't gonna sweat it. If it happens, it happens, and I'll take the opportunity to make a career change. Hell, who knows, I may start shoeing horses for a living. ;o)
It's worryin' about the uncertainty that kills ya.
He'll probably take a few days to come to terms with having to look for work again, and then start. But there's no pressure. I make enough for us to get by on if we live cheap, we've done it before. - on less :~D
At least our major hobby is free - riding doesn't cost anything at all once you've fed the horses, and they'll get fed regardless :~D
Good morning. Glad you're feeling better:)
I'm taking Harley over to Celias Mon. to have some hoof bondo, or whatever it's called put on that foot. We won't have to pull the shoe. But he will put the filler on, and then after it dries be able to put a nail in it.
Becky
Very good :~D If that holds, it'll be on less thing to worry about... It's the uncertainty of it that kills ya :~D
Oh, would you come to OK:)?
Becky
Yeah you're right:)
I think Chris thinks I'm a loon tho:). I'm glad he's easy going, he just laughed:)
Celia just pulled up see you all later.
Becky
Gives him somethin' to talk about over beers with a buddy.
Happy Anniversary, Mt. St. Helens, May 18, 1980!
My husband and I have always believed that you ought to plan your expenses "as if" you only had one income and use the other income for savings or emergencies or special stuff. That way if one of you ever DOES get layed off, you don't have all these worries about trying to pay the bills. I know guys where I work who not only HAVE to have two incomes, but they HAVE to have a certain amount of overtime pay....in order to make their house and car payments! I've always thought that was crazy. With that kinda stress, they're just ASKING for a heart attack.
Well, I think you're doing well, if you've been able to do that. We do have the horse trailer to pay off still, but really, our living is pretty cheap when we need it to be. :~D
Cool pic! You do good work!
It's easier when you don't have kids. They add a whole 'nother dimension to income management. That philosophy would probably go out the window in a hurry if we had any. But still, people don't HAVE to have a new car every other year and a 4,000 square foot house, and a boat and...... you know what I mean. I guess it all depends on what you think is important.
