This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh my.... He's too magnificent to be real :~D
Oh, I got a call from the trainer last night and he said Grace is ready to come home, so I'm going to pick her up on Sunday morning. I'll bet she'll be proud to get home, but I'm sure there'll be turmoil when she does. There always is.
He said she did real well, but that he had to get onto her quite a bit about kicking at other horses on the trail and wanting to lunge at them when she was on the lead. I was kind of afraid of that because her mother and grandmother are the same way. They are VERY dominant mares, so she came by it honest. He also said she had a very nice gait and would go anywhere you pointed her and that's all I really care about. The bad attitude I can handle, but getting one set in their gait is not something I'm good at.
JEEZ LOUISE! Will you look at all that mane! He's just gorgeous, and so is the scenery. I'd've rode a bus 6 hours for that too.
Now that I've caught my breath after seeing that horse, I sure hope there weren't any cars on that road coz there's no place to go if you meet one.
It's something of a pain to deal with one that goes out of the way to lunge at other horses... but it's something you can deal with... and sometimes less of a problem the more she rides with the same horses.
My friend Tiff's Kat... the one we're gonna borrow for Becky's trip, hates Bay, but she can pony her own horses from her. I just don't ride too close behind her.
It was a fun trip. No one spoke English but I had enough high school Spanish to get by. They were very friendly and helpful, and the bus driver took good care of me. He had no problem understanding my Spanish but couldn't understand a word the Hispanic lady from Dallas said in her Mexican dialect.
The scenery was beautiful. The bus route took us up the Mediterranean coastline from Malaga through Grenada to Benidorm. My friend lived in Benidorm (Alicante province) which is about halfway between Malaga and Barcelona. I loved Spain. It was a lovely country with very nice, friendly people.
I fell in love with that Andy stallion and all his hair!
We took a route that my friend often rode so she was familiar with its safety. We didn't see a single car but not all of it was on roads, and we only spent a very short time on this one.
It sure is pretty, but you gotta wonder how they can see! Kinda like an Old English Sheepdog. They get around somehow.
All the Andies in Spain were like that. And, all the males are intact. They do not ride the mares. Shelley took me to a nearby stable where she sometimes takes lessons. Every horse there was an intact stallion. They did not have water in the stalls which were very small. The horses were tied in the stalls and led out to water several times a day. I wasn't there at feeding time so don't know how they did that.
I never saw so many gorgeous horses in one place at one time.
Those are beautiful:)!!!!!. I have just the place for some too:) I'm so glad you think they'd be best outside.
Sorry I skipped out for awhile. I had to get my errands run. I've got some really neat pictures loading to show you guys, and not just of my saddle:). Funny the things that are around us that we don't notice till you look for neat stuff to take pictures of. There's a few I missed too that I may just run back to get the picture:)

Isn't that interesting!
WOW!!!! :)
Becky
Cool - will be waiting for more pictures. :~D
I've got to go let the horses out... They're probably long finished with breakfast and wondering what's taking so long. I forgot them!
Wow, that sounds like a really cool trip. Thanks for sharing the picture. Beautiful country too:)

I went to the saddle shop and asked Stanley if we could put tie rings under the conchos and he said no problem.
When I asked if I could take a picture of it to show you all he said yes, and he also told me he has a web site. This link gives a better view of the one I bought except for mine will have a black seat, and.

Horses are out... it's sortof sunny out today so I took their blankets off... they're all out rolling now. :~D
It's REALLY pretty :~D
Don't even think of leaving it outside in the weather or anything so you don't look like a greenhorn :~D
The vet I'm using lives/works right across the street from the ranch.
Stanley bought this ranch from his dad. When the dad owned it it was a horse ranch, dude strings, barn dances, hay rides, etc. Stanley, altho he runs a saddle shop, has turned the ranch itself into a goat ranch. There is not a horse on the place anymore:(
This is the turn to go down to the shop. The ugly green house next door is where Stanley lives.
This is the front porch of the shop. I think these swings are cool, but I don't know if they are for sale.
This is my saddle with a black seat.
Becky
ROFLOL...Maybe he'll lay down in the creek like Belle did 3 wks after I got my old one:)
