This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

LOL...I don't think Frog and I sound all that much alike, but we both sound different then Hair:). I'm afraid I'm more cracker, and Frog is more southern. I don't think anyone would want to imitate the way I sound.

The burn ban has been lifted, and I've got a heck of a fire going:). All the dead trees I knocked down in the fall. And a lot of dead fall.
Looks like we're going to get rain thru the night and tomorrow.
I had to get Rocky a new cribbing collar today. His old one was about 10 years of, and the leather had gotten wrinkled up and was making rub marks around his poll area. The metal loops that held the ends of the strap down were gone too and he could get it unbuckled. I've noticed him cribbing quit a bit. The new collar should fix all that.

That's ok. I haven't had time to order anyway. The boys just fell asleep. As soon as this headache goes away I'm going to order.
I am looking for one of those bridle/halter combos. I forget who has one here. Frog? I found just one in statelines catalog but its a combo and I really wanted to keep to leather reins.

He is a come-from-behind horse and I like the gray ones. :)
He's got as good a chance as anyone... I don't have a favorite yet.... it's a horse race!
Many years ago when I was at the track in Oakland (?) San Francisco (?) I was talking to a security guard and he said always bet on the grey ones if one is running :)
Hope your headache is gone this morning. If I see a leather combo in one of my catalogs I'll let you know.
That's a good one to pick!!!!! He likes to be off the pace, which may be very good in this race with all the speed.
Huh. I picked him too but it was a black horse on hair's thread. It was a behind shot and he looked like he had some get up and go in those muscles.
