The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Gonna be a gorgeous sunny week though! When it's clear and sunny here, it means it can still get cold at night... I think last night was probably our last frost.

Have you ever tried Snapfish? That's the one I use and it works great.

Snapfish and York use the exact same interface, so if you understand one, we ought to be able to understand the other.

I didn't know that. I just picked Snapfish when I first started and it's always worked great so I never saw any reason to check out York. It's nice to know though.

You know where it asks you if you want to add to a new album or use an existing one? Last night my choices for both were 5/1/06. Today I have a choice of 5/1 or 5/2. My other album dates aren't there. It goes thru the motion fine and I get a "congratulations" When I go to my albums it isn't there though.

How did this happen. I used to have snap fish too but let it close. I saw when I went to refresh on FR that my computer was trying to connect to snapfish and thought how weird. I went and checked. That's where my pics are. I guess I better buy something:')

These two are keeping their distance. I looked up and they had my new jacket playing tug a war. Somehow they knew "you little s#$%^" meant trouble.

Weeeeell, before I knew what I know now, I'd've said they looked good. But now that I've gone over to the Dark Side, I'd say that yes, they're too long. She's got good healthy solid-looking frogs though, and it doesn't look like she's got any obvious flares, at least on the front. So that's in her favor.

How long has it been since she was shod?

As far as this shoe job, it looks OK. Her frog looks in good shape. BUT:), (you knew there would be a but didn't you:), I've just been sold on the beveled shoes now. I can see now where these flat shoes can cause flaring in the hoof wall over time. I don't see any, (yet), which is good, but if your farrier doesn't know about the NB shoes, I'd at least go with a beveled shoe. Most farriers carry them, I think they don't put them on tho unless asked too. One more BUT:), this is all just my opinion. If your happy and the horse is moving good, and since she is not showing any flare, maybe you'll be fine as is.

Believe it or not PINK is the color of choice right now around here for horses:)

When I went to the barrel race a few weeks ago to watch Kristy, a LOT of the horses were in pink leg wraps, blankets, etc. I was checking them out to see if it was just mares, and it WASN'T.

I could see putting a mare in pink, but I felt sorry for the geldings:). LOL

Look at this cool thing I found out in the back forty... It's an old hollow base of a long gone tree.

I cleaned it up and moved it to a rather wild part of the yard and want to find a little flower to plant in it.

I had to run and scan this.... my old Arab ~stallion~. in pink.

Women... Men never do this stuff to horses. Not even the gay ones.
