The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I don't know much about toll booths either. I would have got out too. This was my first. I drove all the way to Austin and back being very careful because the speed limit goes up and down. Driving with the flow isn't safe either because I drive a cop magnet. I was only a couple of miles from home too. If only those speed freaks that liked to get behind me and honk (Texas too, unfortunately)and flash lights could have seen:')

The funny thing is that the rude people were between San Antonio and Austin, bad in Austin, and south Texas. I took a bunch of back roads coming back. Many were one lane and I wasn't in a hurry (haha) and I would pull over to the shoulder. People would wave or tap their brakes in thanks. Here they wave all right. With one finger. I really like country folk best.

Ooooooo, that's when I turn into Granny Frog and drive like 45 mph, just to PISS 'em off! LOL! Or better yet, pin 'em between me and somebody else going slow. It's probably gonna get me killed some day, but I just can't seem to help it.

The dogwoods and azaleas are in full bloom already this Spring.

The best I have seen in a long time.

That's it? How old is she? 14.2 is a great size. Soo tempted!

Yeah, I know. I was coming home awhile ago and pretty close to where I got a ticket is an overpass. Two fools came blaring by, passing blind, with no place to go, expecting people to make a hole. We did. Better than a head on. There were passengers too. Anyway. They beat everybody to the red light. Fools. I just want to know where my baby cop was when I needed him:')

Biscut is really nice looking. Cricket is cute, I love her face, but you're right she is a bit tubby :-)She has a really nice shoulder. I love the name. As everyone knows here, I have a terrible soft spot for ponies. Have you had anyone out to look at her?

Thanks, Biscuit has come along nicely. No, we have not had anybody out to look at Cricket. We might take her to a show, and see if we can find her a good home. She does well on trails, so maybe I will ride her. ;') Daughter is lending Jody out to her cousin to ride and might take her to fair. We will see how that works out. I paid for the training so I would have something to ride. Oh well, she get exercised anyhow.

Is she a western pony, or a hunter pony? Good trail ponies are worth their weight in gold.

I think my pony is worth her weight in recycled newsprint.

We had a glorious ride. Celia's truck broke down, so I had to go get here and I brought her trailer and horse here. He's staying for the week while she's on vacation, getting her truck fixed. That way we can ride.

Anyway the bit worked better then anything I've tried, the saddle, he still is having some dry spots, but he's not sore at all...

Frog, so sorry about the saddles not fitting....Does your old one fit them?

Miss Targets, I like the pony:), and your daughter looks like she's doing great with Biscuit.

Inge, my dogwood is blooming. I just got it last year and it has about a dozen flowers:) The red buds were done about 2 wks. ago.

I didn't get any pictures, too busy talking:). I'll try to get some tomorrow.

Gotta go. See you later or tomorrow.

Becky

~one~ picture shouldn't have interrupted the conversation too much ;~D

Hope the saddle's going to end up working... sounds like the bit is.

I think it will. If he's not sore tomorrow when I saddle him, I'd say he's not going to get sore. Then the only thing to watch for is a sore, like my old saddle put on him. I don't think that will happen tho. This saddle just does not roll on him at all like the other one did. I'm starting to get use to the spread, but it has rubbed a raw spot on the inside of my left leg. The edge of the top skirt is hitting me in a different spot, I guess that skin is going to have to callous up:\. Man does it sting:) It actually looks like blue fuzz from the inside of my jeans is rubbed into the skin...ouch!!

It wasn't that one picture would have interrupted the conversation, it's that because of the conversation i never even thought about taking a picture. My camera is still in the carry pouch hanging on my saddle.

Good Morning all.

Going to be another beautiful day here. Sunny and close to 70. This evening, I might take the granddaughter down the bike trail...I walk with the dog and she rides her bike.

Cindy, that is a tail bag on Biscuit. If you noticed in the other pictures of Jody and Cricket, a bag is on them too. Keeps the tail hairs from breaking off, for a nice long tail. It's a show person thing. :)

Beaker, Cricket was a show pony, but does nicely on trails. Kids just don't have the money to buy her. The man who owns her, just doesn't take very good care of them. We hate to send her back there. The photos show her as been tubby, but it's mostly hair.

I've noticed that the dogwoods really seem to be prettier this year too. I haven't really seen too many pretty azaleas yet though. Mothers look worse than I've ever seen them look. She didn't fertilize them last year so she's thinking that's what caused it.
