The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

BTW Froginablender - I loaded all those movies of your rocks and caves, but I don't remember if I posted the link!

So forgive me if I already posted this. These movies are from Froginablender from her trail ride last weekend. Lots of great perspective of those big caves I like so much.

I'd been wondering about the Bitless Bridle too. I Googled it and read quite a bit and it sounds like there could be some problems with it compressing the facial nerves if the horse gets too cranked up and you have to keep pulling on it. Some people also thought that it confused the horse quite a bit until he got used to it. Also, it was a little pricey to just try on a whim, so I was somewhat ambivalent.

I think the bit looks fine to me. I'd rather have some sticking out the sides than have it pinching their lips.

Lots of trees down but no injuries that I know of. One fence had to be rebuilt at the farm because of downed trees.

Did you guys have tornados in the area, or just high winds? Hail?

You had posted the movies link already, but it doesn't hurt anything for it to be out there again. I just hate it that they won't play for Becky.

Just high winds is all that happened here. Lots of reports of low wall clouds with possible tornados but no touchdowns that I am aware of.

Makes me shudder to think about anything like that. Glad you guys stayed safe... I felt very worried when we were in a hotel room in Leavenworth watching it on the TV and I didn't have internet access to see if you had posted that you were OK!

I got a couple of cute pics here of the little donkey that was born here last year...

This is his picture the day he was born, and last week...

He's kinda gotten into the "wild and wooly" stage. They took his mama away from him just recently and he's not real happy right now.

I took some pictures of Bluebell yesterday too, after I trimmed her feet. She's due to foal this Friday and she looks like she's about to pop...

Yep, Tornados usually strike after dark here. You can be caught completely by surprise......
