The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Some things you have no choice but to be patient. There's no way to manhandle a horse into a trailer:). Believe me if he could he would:). And besides there were people there watching:)

Remember the story I've told about Belle, being thrown and tarped for not wanting to turn around in the trailer and back out. I hate to say it, but It was Joe that did that. Yeah he can fix a horse with a problem, but he's ruined a few too. Very sad. Because he does have soooo much talent to work with one, but sometimes he loses it. I think he actually works better on horses that are already ruined, as he has nothing to lose with them they were headed for the killers anyway.

Alot of people who have horses trained by Joe will tell you that every once in a while the horse will get a far away look and wig out, it's called a Joe Allen flash back:). You really need a lot of experience to deal with with a horse trained by him. He's the reason Belle was so good, but he's also the reason she was so bad:( But he likes his horses edgy. I know now, and I wouldn't buy a horse from him now for anything.

All right! I record all of those shows so I'm sure I have it recorded. Ironically, that ranch is in Bluff Dale, Texas and right by the ranch where Juma was trained, in Tolar.

I'm watching it, poor Lance isn't doing too well with that horse. Juma would be lousy at that, too.

I haven't watched it yet, but Kristy told me he was making her mad, talking like barrel horses could do the sort of thing they were trying in the race. She wanted to take Rowdy and show him different. She took Rowdy to a CTR. The first time she got first place horse, first place rider, and high combination, and high point Quarter:) It was great.

Oh, OK:)

Yes, and no. The cold is more of a problem then the snow. As you can see from the patio and sidewalk it's not freezing enough for it to stick to cement, and the bird baths, and troughs aren't even froze. So I'd say driving is not a problem. But the wind is blowing, so that makes it feel really cold.

Actually, they made a point of saying that the horse Lance was riding wasn't one of his barrel horses.

Good Morning.

No snow here, but cold, low 30's. I won't go to the horse sale Saturday, if it's this cold.

Right before I went to bed last night, I saw the radar and knew some was heading this way. I had a feeling this was going to happen. It happens fairly often in March here. One last hurrah of winter before spring really hits. I think that's whats going to happen. Next weeks forecast is all in the 60"s.

Mack is fixing to leave for work, I'll go watch that show. I didn't think it was something he would be interested in so I didn't make him suffer thru it last night:)
