The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I won't ever turn up my nose at an older horse, because my mare is pushing 21 and she still runs like a little Swiss watch.

This one is 29 and still going strong.

They are doing great:) She was here earlier to give Mack a haircut:).This was their first day out. Travis was home, so they were going to go eat and to WalMart.

I have always pushed for when my kids have kids that they keep them on a schedule.Kristy did it and JP did great, and now Jenny has done it with the same results. I think it makes for happier babies and more rested mothers. Once again the theory has proved true. Tucker is staying awake when he is suppose to and sleeping when he is suppose to, so Jenny is feeling great.

We'd all be walking funny for a week afterwards, but I'm game!

Good Grief at the HAIR! He looks like a Yack, minus the horns of course. But a pretty yack none the less.

They do look alike! Tammy is a quarter horse, but she's thoroughbredy type quarterhorse, and she act just like one too.

Many years ago I bought an app gelding that I had riden several times at the stable where he was kept. Great horse, pretty well trained, fairly nice looking. Three days after I got him home, he was running the fence line so bad he was pouring sweat.

I loaded him up in the trailer and a girlfriend and I started to the vet's about 20miles away. Halfway there, he went crazy in the trailer and took the back end of the pickup off the road. I stopped, unloaded him, left him with my girlfriend, and drove on to the vet's. I picked up the vet and brought him back to the horse. After examining him, he decided there was nothing wrong except he was nuts.

I had the vet sedate him, loaded him back up and drove him back to the stable, and got my money back. No questions, I think the guy could tell I was a tad angry about then.
