I read yesterday on the F@H forum that G3's and G4's run Tinkers at the speed of mud. I also have a G4 running a Tinker at 14% complete at 24 hours. Additionally, it's a dual processor so apparently F@H can only work one processor at a time, further cutting down on productivity. I was hoping to boost my output with this computer, but I guess not!

G5's apparently shouldn't have this problem. What's your computer?

It's a G4 iBook. I read about G4s and Tinker cores. I went to a Folding site that recommended inCrease, a little program especially for Macs that keeps F@H running even if you're logged out, plus some other options. It's also intended to help G4s avoid Tinker units through settings. In this regard, all I can say is that it didn't work the first time. I think, though, that most of the WUs available are Tinker core, so it can't be helped. Even so, having inCrease for my F@H interface is very nice. I recommend it to everyone.
