The finishing order of the teams in the top 35 ("Yes" in the "Guaranteed?" column; except Jeff Burton, who is locked in on the inside pole) plus the top 2 "field-fillers" will set the "odd" starting spots 3-39.
By virtue of qualifying time, Bill Elliott and Hermie Sadler are locked in the Daytona 500 field, and by virtue of being the most-recent Cup champ among the field-fillers, Terry Labonte is locked in the Daytona 500 field. They can improve their starting position by finishing among the top 2 field-fillers.
The next 4-fastest field-fillers (3 if Terry Labonte does not finish among the top 2 field-fillers in the 1st Duel, which would put him 43rd) from today's qualifying will fill spots 39-43 based on speed regardless of what Duel they competed in.
Drivers marked with a "*" must finish as one of the top 2 field-fillers in this Duel to make the Daytona 500.
