A "European" (before there was a Europe, of course) being dubbed the new "native American" certainly won't fly with the PC crowd. Related to that, I've long wondered that if American Indians are the only native Americans, where does that leave those of us born in the United States?

the observations of the early explorers, conquerors and misssionaries describe an apparently racially quite varied America. That whole groups died off between these first contacts and wholesale colonization seems to have reduced the apparent variety somewhat.
