If you have to push off, you didn't score a touchdown. I'll admit that it was a nitpicky call, letter of the law, but he did make the contact.

A wideout can change direction - that's not interference.

Not by putting his hand on a defender and pushing, he can't. That is interference.

The awful part is that he didn't need to do it - he had the angle on the ball. He had the defender beat. But he pushed off, and that's a penalty.
