Thanks, sj, for the ping. What a lineup. I get less and less thrilled with this show every season. I live near SEattle where multiculturalism runs rampant and bums rule the streets. We're so "tolerant" that we don't even arrest poor downtrodden drug dealers and bling-covered hookers who sell their wares in front of Nordstrom's, the most exclusive store in town--and sometimes inside the store too. Perhaps the challenge in Seattle will be for the teams to get into Nordies without being accosted. Or to march in a Rainbow Coalition Gay Pride Anti-War parade, one of the main events of the city.
And you can bet that whoever wins will, like the hippies from last season, bash the President and say they "want to go to Cuba to kiss Castro." (Direct quote.)
Meanwhile, there's a similar show on this summer, Treasure Hunters, I believe the name is. Monday nights at 9:00 on NBC or CBS (forget which). Teams of three look for clues around America. They tend to be harder to find than the TAR clues. So far, the hunt has taken them to places loaded with American history. Imagine that. And the teams include "Air Force," "ex-CIA," "Miss USA," nifty working-class guys from Boston called "Southies," a bunch of goofy but smart nerds called "Geniuses," etc. It's a fun show, though the announcer/host fellow is a big stiff. They need to work out that particular kink and this show will be quite entertaining.
The remaining teams are going overseas next week. Paris and who knows where else. They also have a feature that allows the audience to win prize money every week by correctly following a clue either online or by text messaging. I'm on Pacific time, and so are all the winners I've seen, so apparently they have a different winner for each time zone. Ingenious. Check it out.
Yeah I know ... but even with all the "diversity" crap in this race, the teams seem to be fairly grounded, so hopefully this will put TAR back on track. No kids, no hippies, no lame destinations ...
I'm not thrilled with the new time slot though.
On NBC.
We missed last week, but have watched the previous 3 or 4 as well as last night.
It's not bad. I think the host tries to sound like Phil of TAR.
I'll take a wild stab and say the brothers will be contenders as along as they aren't " too smart " and lack street smarts.
