One racer faces an extreme fear of heights by rappelling down a 400-foot building; another becomes lost and has trouble operating a manual transmission.
CBS joins the mid-season replacement bandwagon with "The Unit," a new drama created by the legendary David Mamet and "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan. The inspired-by-reality series follows a covert team of Special Forces operatives as they risk their lives on various undercover missions around the world. Jonas Blane (Dennis Haysbert, "24") leads the unit; in the premiere episode, Jonas takes new recruit Bob Brown (Scott Foley, "Felicity") under his wing as their group sets out to rescue a hijacked plane filled with European businessmen. Back on the homefront, the team's wives help Bob's wife Kim (Audrey Marie Anderson) get acclimated to "unit life." Regina Taylor ("I'll Fly Away") and Robert Patrick ("The X-Files") also star.
